Luckily, I slipped the Great Expectations high pressure salespitch, and I'm so glad after seeing all the negative reports on the Web. About a month ago, after seeing a roadside sign "Meet singles - newalbanysingles.com" - I filled out a webform and Great Expectations reps began calling my work, home and cellphone numbers for 3 weeks nonstop every day, until I naiively agreed to a "brief" meeting, and told that I would not be pressured to join.

My appointment was scheduled for 11:45, and they told me it would take about an hour. I had to present my credit card and driver's license at the door, and was forced through a personal interview with canned, targeted questions designed to reveal my vulnerabilities, and made to watch a video. I pressed for metrics and statistics on members, and was told there would be 100 men in the area, my exact age. I asked to view 10 "profiles", and most were blue collar workers or much older men--when I had stated I was interested in highly educated men in my age group.

After about an hour, the costs were presented, which started out around $5,500 for a 3-year membership. After I refused, then the interviewer said she had to speak to her manager, came back in and offered the "single parent" rate of around $3,500 and told if I joined I would need to sign a nondisclosure. After being worn down for another 1/2 hour, she came back and presented the "student" rate of around $1,600 for 1 year. When I refused that(3 strikes), she called the "manager", a skanky-looking bleached blonde in Tammy Faye Baker makeup, wearing a 5-inch miniskirt she was much too old to wear, 1-inch long fingernails in bad need of a balance.....in to wear me down more and try and close me.

By now it was around 1:45 p.m. and I informed her I had a 2:00 meeting and I really needed to get back to the office. When I said I'm not interested and attempted to open the door and leave, she really flipped out. She began berating me in a loud voice--saying that I was not EVER going to find anyone, that this was my LAST chance for happiness, that I was making the biggest MISTAKE of my life, I was BLOWING it, etc. etc. and she stormed down the hall, cussing all the way and waving me off. Now -- talk about customer oriented -- NOT!!!!

This is comical to me, the happy customer it totally Ashley aka the skanky Tammy Faye lookalike (yet somehow less attractive but thinks she is Heidi Klum- I dont get it either!). or her sidekick Lauren, but Lauren is actually semi attractive with some feeling so I doubt it was her. They are both terrible human beings for ripping people off the way they do. BTW I know Ashley looks super old and tarnished but she is really only like 20 something

No customer has been successful with this company, as it is clearly a scam. Even if someone was a member at some point they would know that its a rip off would not have taken the time to write a rebuttal claiming the company is legit. Only the staff would promote like the "happy customer". I am shocked they are still in business

Let me ask you "Danielle" are you still single?  I think it is absolutely appauling that you falsely slander and attack a successful membership.  The internet is a fabulous forum for people to complain but not report success.    It is amazing to me that people want to complain about companies who try and help them.  I think you should convert your efforts...if you would spend the time in trying to meet good quality instead of slandering employees and being caddy you might have a successful relationship.  The only reason I am commenting is because I am a success story and when I came in for my photo shoot I overheard a gentleman telling the receptionist about this report in which someone was belittled and he felt so bad for that girl and the company.  Instead of complaining why didn't you call a higher up manager....everyone needs to realize there are in fact success stories!  Just because the membership wasn't for you doesn't mean its not for someone else.  You don't want to be the one responsible for someone else remaining single solely because of your "supposed" sensitive experience.

I have been into Great Expectations numerous times and I have yet to have bad customer experience.  I found that my memberhsip representative was extremely helpful in completeing my profile and making suggestions to me.  I also found that the receptionists were always willing to help should something arise.  If any Great Expectations emloyees read this, I just wanted to say Thank you one more time.  I would not have met the man of my dreams if I never would have taken the chance and joined.  We can never repay you for the happiness you have given us.

I think you walked into the same office as I did. Luckly I knew every single sales tactics the sales women was using from the beginning to the end.

When she showed me the price they were asking, I told her striaight up "I will not make a decision today. In fact, that is ridiculoously high costs for intangible service you guys are providing" She would not let me leave the office and was getting extremely rude with me.

At the end, I told her it was a mistake that I even walked into their office that morning and told her there is noway she would sell me anything due to her poor professionalism. The look on her face was priceless.

Then I asekd her to return my personal information which I filled out when I arrived at the office, she said she couldn't do so but they will shred the paper. Told her "Don't even think about pulling my credit or anything or else you will be speaking to the state prosecutors office"

Very next day, I had my credit card companies to block any un autorized charges and had my credit report pulled at work as I work for a big finance/audit company.

Now I know about this website, I will never buy service or product unless I check this website and their BBB ratings.

People, please beaware of them. They are the blood sucking leaches and the bottom feeders. They need to be taken down. I hope someone takes them to the court and clears them.

God I hope.
