Summer Bay Resort IMDB Millionth Visitor Pop-Up Scam Clermont Florida

My friend in Sweden surfed www.imdb.com for some information on an actor. Suddenly a pop-up ad appears telling him he is the millionth visitor to IMDB this month (April -08). The pop-up ad further tells him he has won a vacation package including a cruise worth more than $3200. He now has two minutes to decide whether he wishes to take advantage of this opportunity or not.

Foolish as he is he is not aware of this scam technique. After having clicked the pop-up ad he's requested to enter his credit card information and pay $800 for administrative costs related to the prize. He then calls me up and tells me he's coming to the U.S.A. When he told me under what circumstances he was to get his so called prize I immediately started to surf for scam information related to this company. I was not surprised to find all other report on this company here on Ripoff Report. I suggested to my friend to call GE Mastercard immediately to try to stop the payment to the company.

After having finished our call he did so. Unfortunately GE Mastercard could not stop the payment as the money had been withdrawn from my friend's account as soon as he clicked "ok" on the company's site. My friend then called the company who tried to hook him by lowering the "administrative cost" he'd have to pay to initialize his "prize". My friend told them he wished to cancel completely and receive a total refund. The company told him he'd have the money back in his account within 7-10 business days... I will submit a follow-up to this report as soon as I know whether my friend did receive a refund or not!
