AAFES AAFES Government Sanctioned Monopoly Kuwait Nationwide

I am currently working for a civilian contract agency on the military insatallations in Kuwait. I have seen first hand the rip off that AAFES is currnently engaged in against our troops. As many may know, a few of these bases here are lay over points where the soldiers being cycled into and out of Iraq are stationed for a relatively short time. These men and women are under quite a bit of stress considering that they are either going into or leaving a warzone. As a civilian contractor, I am in a unique position that our soldiers are not. I live off base in Kuwait City. Just yesterday I went to the McDonald' on base in one of the northern camps and purchased a Quarter Pounder w/ cheese meal, large sized and a regular cheeseburger. The cost of this meal was $5.75 for the "value meal" and an extra $1.85 for a total of $7.60 for the cheeseburger. On the next day I was off duty and in Kuwait City. I went to a local McDonald's and ordered the identical meal. The Value meal cost 1.2 KD (approx. $4.44) and the cheeseburger cost 550 FILS (aprox. $2.03) for a total of $6.47.

Now,you cannot convince me that the Kuwaitis are paying less to ship the same product here than AAFES is. They have the same employees working for them (TCN's) and they have overhead costs to run an actual restaraunt with indoor seating, clean atmosphere and a much wider selection of food choices. How can the same meal cost $1.13 more on a US military installation? This is only a fraction of the rip offs that AAFES conducts on our bases. They are ripping off our soldiers and taking advantage of them in a time when they should be almost giving this food away to them. These troops are going to war or newly returning from one. I find this to be a terrible MWR technique for MWR camps. Get real AAFES. Quit ripping off our American Heroes!

Do you know that the Army & Air Force was suppose to pay for the shipments of all AAFES goods to Iraq, Afghanistan etc?

Well guess what.....NO.

AAFES employees who deploys in OIF & OEF are the lowest paying government workers out there. Please, do your homework before you open your mouth. A KBR worker with little than no experience in engineering will make $10,000.00 a month sitting on his azz doing nothing when an AAFES employee is barely making $1,700 a month scrambling and worrying if our troops will have something new for them to purchase coming very soon if not later depending on the convoy missions, hopes that something good will happen soon.

Do you ever think Wal Mart or Target will deploy to support you? Well, to tell y'all the truth. AAFES was up for sale not too long ago. Wal Mart was the top buyer, but then....since AAFES donate the majority of its profits to MWR, Wal Mart says no.

So to say the least, every dollar you spent in any AAFES store, 5 cents goes to MWR, the rest goes to transportation of goods, employee paycheck and the bills.

Do you ever think Wal Mart or Target will give up that much money to support you or to get their owner and upper management richer and richer everytime you spend your hard earned money in their store?

Think again genius........the very people you're bad mouthing about is the only one that stands up for you.

Wal Mart is more than happy to take your money and get rich out of it besides spending back to you and your family....
