I have been playing the Jagex game Runescape for more then 4 years. 3 of those 4 years as a paying member. Suddenly Jagex bannen my account permanently because they were the opinion my accountname was offensive.
Maybe it was, that is not the issue and a matter of opinion.

The issue is, they allowed my account name for 4 years (and took my money for 3 years) and then, without any warning or offer to change it, they banned it.

All my appeals (throught there appeal system and by writing the numerous letters) where denied.

In their terms and condtions at the time was a statement that Jagex could change an accounts name if they thought it was offensive in any way.

When I finally had contact with someone that was willing to actual talk about this issue (after a few months and many, many automated responses), he/she told me that it was technically impossible to change an accounts name.
So why state in your terms and conditions that Jagex can change an accounts name if it's not possible at all?
The fact that it's not possible seems very strange anyway. I am an IT-expert myself and know something about databases etc. Either there system is rubish, or they just don't want to help me.

As a reply to this, I asked them to create a new account for me, and transfer all experience and accumulated items from the old banned account to the new one.

They could not do that either. Again: either they have a rubish system, or they simply don't want to help me.

Jagex, in my opinion, is so succesful that they don't care about unjust banning of faithful customers who paid a membership fee to them for years.

I hope someone with some legal knowlegde looks into this. Maybe a lawsuit against Jagex is possibel?

Jagex resolves issue!

AUTHOR: Captain p. - (Netherlands)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 30, 2008

I received an email from Jagex Customer services. They understood my situation and resolved the issue. Since I always played by the rules, they unbanned my account.
Too bad it took them so long to resolve it, but it does show that Jagex is doing it's best to solve genuine complaints.

Jagex is just interested in your cash dude plain and simple

the facts speak for themselves, they appoint in game moderators to police the game and have removed any email support or assistance. They have no phone support and they don;t even read the appeals. Plain and simple they could care less about the in game problems because they have people willing to pay cash to play. I am still waiting for the day everyone bands together and files a class action on this company of thieves and tyrants.
