I was like most college students that got a 1st Financial Bank credit card. I got the offer in the mail and they seemed so sincere about helping me build my credit. If I would have known the way they really were, I would never have opened this card.

I am a working college student. I am a full time science major who works part time. When I lost my part time job due to budget cuts I was having trouble paying all of my credit cards. Many of my creditors were understanding but 1st Financial Bank called me non stop, they wanted me to pay as if I was still working. They were horrible to me on the phone, they bullied me, insulted me, they tried to belittle me. They suggested that I borrow the money from my family, even though I told them my mother is a single mother, they told me to take a couple of days off from school to go to a temp agency because they pay daily, they said to borrow the money from a friend, etc. They basically suggested everything except prostitution!

I ended up signing up at a debt management company. The debt management company told me that it will take a few weeks for me to be officially enrolled in the program, but that if creditors called I should tell them that I was on a plan and to contact them for questions. All my credits stopped calling except 1st Financial. They said that they could not wait to hear from them and that there was no certainty that they were going to accept the plan. They basically conned me into signing up for a plan with them. I cancelled my debt management plan but not before they sent out the proposals and 1st financial accepted. I thought for a few months that I was making payments to the 1fbusa plan but it turned out that they had kicked me off the plan when they got the other proposal, without letting me know, and since I cancelled the debt man. plan, I wasnt even making min payments. They then called me to trash me some more, calling me irresponsible and demanding payment.

The problem with 1FBUSA is that when they claim to set you up on a plan, they make you pay 100 for 2 months and then a random payment of like 300 and then back to 100. I told them, how do you expect me to randomly find the funds for the 300 payment. They finally heard something I said and put me on a plan where I would only pay a certain amount every month. And I could never be late because they automatically took it out of my bank account. 2 months into this plan, I get a call that my account is SERIOUSLY DELINQUENT. I said that that is not possible because I was put on a plan 2 months ago and I never missed a payment. They said that the plan that they put me on even though they said that it would mae my account look current, it didnt and I was reporting to my credit report as 2 months late every month and to fix the problem they required that I pay double the amount every month. I was so angry, I told them that I purposely agreed to this plan because it was how much I could afford, how could I possibly pay more. They said fine, we'll keep it that way. 2 months later I get a letter stating that I was seriously delinquent again. I called and when I pointed out that they are the ONLY creditors that I am still having trouble with and that I think they are extremely unprofessional, they hung up on me!

The problem with 1FBUSA is that they do honestly try to trap you, they claimed that I was always a bad customer yet why did they raise my limit so high. Everytime you speak to someone there, you should record the conversation yourself because they tell you something and deny it later. They do not have accurate record keeping (surprise surprise), and they cant do simple math. When they set me up on plans they call me back 3-4 times and tell me that they made a mistake and have to increase how much I have to pay. They are also extremely rude. I have never in my entire life been spoken to the way they speak to me. I always end up crying on the phone when I speak to them. I have a capital one account, and when I told them I was having family trouble that affected my ability to pay, they were sooo simpathetic and helpful and set me up on a plan with no strings attached. I actually see my capital one balance go down every month. With 1FBUSA, they never know for sure where my balance is, what I owe exactly, and I could not keep up with the fees and the charges they apply to my account.

Do not open an account with them. I want to pay off this card so bad, so that I dont have to give them another penny. The way they bullied me should be against the law. They manipulated me and were responsible for the status of my account, with their poor record keeping and "mistakes"!
