I went into 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore yesterday Friday October 16, 2009 for two eyeglasses for for my 12 year old daughter.   They were advertised $149.00 for 2.  I was advised at that time that you would get 2 pairs of complete eyeglasses for $149.00 and also the eye exam was included in the price for children. Also was advised that all yellow dot items were for that deal.  Upon inspection of eyeglasses selection it was very hard to distinguish which were yellow or not, you had to find something that  you liked and PRAYED that it was a yellow dot item. Everything was completely mixed up.

We finally found 2 items that WERE NOT yellow dots  (Didn't see it coming, did you?).  Anyway  one was a blue dot with a $30.00 upgrade the other had no dot but was a $70.00 upgrade, everything came to $249.00 ( I still didn't mind anything at that time though).

I realized that the $30.00 upgrade frames paint was peeling off.  I asked if it could be a loaner until my pair came in, it was accepted by management.  After I paid and was invoiced, then all SCAMS came to life.  The invoiced showed one glasses at $210.00, for the $70.00 upgrade and $30.00 for the $30.00 upgrade, a total of $249.00.  Which only means if my pair of eyeglasses is not delivered to me I would only get a  refund of $30.00 (Does that sound/seem fair?  Not to me!).

This whole deal don't seem to be any type of bargain or savings at all.  All disclosures should be openly displayed, but they are not.  If you are buying any type of deals from this store, make sure that your items are in-stock BEFORE any payments are made.  And certainly DO NOT make payment in full for ANY items that are not received at time of purchase (the day you leave the store).  That is the only way you could  insure you are not SCAMMED with the 2/$149.00 deal or the buy one get one free deal (RIPOFF).

The invoice that I received did not state NO REFUNDS.  But when I suggested that I will cancel the purchase before I picked them up they informed me that there were no refunds.  The glasses were paid in full and left to be fitted with the lenses.   I did not want to wait for the glasses, so I left them there to be picked up the next day.  They informed me that if my glasses is not received/in-stock I have a choice of a $30.00 credit or another pair compatible price.

We had looked through all the glasses in-stock and there was nothing else we liked.   If we do/did find something else we would have to take it  just so we don't take the $30.00 credit RIPOFF.

The manager at the store only added more insult to injury.  Some people should never be made managers/supervisors because of their STINK attitudes.  It would only bring down/destroy the business even faster.  The manager had the sales associate (very young girl) go back and forth several times to me with answers when I went to pick  up the glasses today Saturday  Oct. 17th. (he said she said).  So because it was the manager that made all the decisions it was pointless to discuss anything with the young sales associate.  I went directly to the manager and asked her to speak directly to me instead of sending messages, because she was just about to send another  message with the young girl, the manager turned to me and said that she wasn't talking to me (I thought at that time, she thought that she was talking to her child).  So I knew she must have completely lost her mind!  I kept my composure and put her in her place.

I still have to pick up the other glasses on order hopefully they have them in-stock.

Regarding the 2 for 149.00 kids package

AUTHOR: Tabitha - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 28, 2009

I came across this site while looking up the phone number to 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore. I was trying to find their number so that I could contact them to schedule an appointment for myself.

I have to beg to differ with the person who reported this complaint as I know that not every place is perfect however 20/20 has been a God send to myself and family.

My daughter has been wearing glasses since the age of 7 and her ONE pair of glasses have always cost me no less than 350.00 with frame and polycarbonate lenses complete.

20/20 was the first place I have ever found to offer affordable prescriptive eyewear for my child or myself.

The store is clean, the staff is friendly and their doctor is wonderful.

I moved to Melbourne two years ago and because I have to take my child in each year for eye exams and glasses due to her optical issue I can honestly say that the experience has never been any thing more than positive.

The consumer whom filed this complaint is correct in the fact that the yellow dot frames are mixed in among the pricier frames so you do have to look through different styles but the selection for the affordable frames is extremely large and you DON'T have to find a pricier frame if you are trying to stick to a budget.

It is up to the consumer to stick to the basics if that is all they can afford. Of course the super cute frames and name brand styles are going to be more expensive. Just as any other item in life you purchase, if you want a Kia you will pay much less than you would for the Mercedes, no?

The most I have ever spent on my child's frames and lenses while dealing with 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore was 179.00. I bought one regular yellow tag frame and upgraded her main pair to a red tag which was 30.00 more. My daughter LOVES her glasses and I will continue to do my business with them.

There are two sides to every story and the bottom line is you can't please every one.

There are no refunds on their glasses, but the frames come with a one year warranty and if you purchase a scratch warranty on your lenses for 20.00 they are replaced for free two times during that year warranty no questions asked.

The no refund policy is posted clearly at the bottom of my receipt and when I had an issue with our first pair of glasses the staff took care of the issue promptly with no negative feedback at all.

No one makes you buy more expensive frames, you have the right to decline the services if you are not happy with them prior to making a commitment to the sale.

I honestly don't understand how people act like they are forced to purchase something they don't want. It just leads me to believe that it is buyers remorse due to poor budgeting.

Everything is printed clearly in their advertisements all you need to do is read it.

I surely wouldn't expect to get a 500.00 frame for the 149.00 price x2. Just use common sense.

Best wishes to all and I for one will continue to do my business with 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore.

Regards
