The World Gym in the Babies-r-Us shopping center in Laurel will try to weasel you out of every penny. When we signed up we were told it was simple to cancel if my husband was transferred. What they in fact require is a lease or deed from the new address and a bill sent to the new address. This cleverly allows them to bill you for an extra month while you wait for your mail to be forwarded.

After they recieve your info, they then "review" it for a month. COME ON! It takes a month to look at two sheets of paper and deduce, "yup, they moved". Not even Derek and his ace staff can possibly read THAT slowly.

So we submit all of our documents, hand in our form, get it signed by someone who claims to be the General Manager and think we are done. Well, two months later they are still billing us.

Turns out when we call that they have misplaced our paperwork. But that's ok, because according to Derek, the manager, the guy who signed our form wasn't authourized to take cancellations, and isn't a manager. Somehow his personnel issues are now our problem.

In order for them to begin their thirty day review, we have to pay them a $75 cancellation fee (which no one had mentioned to us until now) and submit a UTILLITY bill; our student loan bill not being sufficiently official for them.

Basically these scumbag-aholes are trying to screw around as long as they can so they can continue to bill us. They show no remorse for the fact that their employees are poorly trained, they lost our paperwork, etc. There are tons of gym in this area, find one that will let you join month-to-month and isn't run by incompetent, dishonest, self-important little dweebs.
