Do not let 5 Star Ventilation into your home!

5 Star Ventilation made a cold call using Angie's List Riviews for a bargain Chimney Cleaning!

Using scare tactics on my elderly mother my mother bought a $6600 chimney liner which should have cost $2500-$3500.00!

I had two independent licensed HVAC Chimney Companies and what I was told that a written invoice should be good for 72 Hours to confirm or deny pricing!  This was not done.

A permit to complete the work was needed beforehand.  This was not done!

To turn off and on the furnace a HVAC Licensed company is needed.  This was not the case!

5 Star Ventilation applied for the permit AFTER the fact and falsified the invoice diminishing the price by $2000.00.  This is FRAUD!

Presently, the cost for the work to be legal and working properly done by 5 Star Ventilation will cost an additional $3500.00, making a grand total of $10,000.00 for a $2500-$3500 job!

Shoddy, incomplete, over priced and ilegal work done by 5 Star Ventilation!

Do not let 5 Star Ventilation into your home and on the phone!  They will rip you off and have no remorse!!

Lies! Lies! Lies!

You never filed a permit until 10 days later after the work was done. Did you even know that you needed a permit and to have an HVAC license to do the work?  Brian Gary is closely looking over the permit with great doubt.  So, is it pending yes!  Was it pulled the day of the job ABSOUTELY NOT! I had an independent contractor who was HVAC certified and licensed look at the work and it is uncomplete and shoddy.  I will need $3500 to complete the job correctly.  So the now the job worth $3500 tops will cost me $10,000.00 to complete.  You also solicited a 90 something women in Norwalk for over $8000.00 for the work.  This is outrageous.  The Building Department is aware of your misdealings.  The Consumer Protection Agency has an investigation pending as well as the Department of Aging for elderly exploitation!

If you are so proud of your work and the cost then fix what damage was done Correctly and give me a refund of $3500.00!  Pipes aren't connected.  The pipe was ill fitted and the wrong size.  So, no, you didn't do the work correctly.

This may satisfy unsuspecting customers in Long Island but Buyer Beware.  You will be gravely disappointed in this work and pay double the price!

First and foremost, we WILL not complete a stainless steel lining system without the appropriate permit in the state of Connecticut. Permits are pulled on the day of installation, or within a reasonable timeframe in and emergency situation. A permit was filed with Brian Garry of the Norwalk building department in this case. Secondly, we DO NOT schedule under false pretenses, nor do we scam anyone. There are few, if any, complaints of any sort of "scamming" of any sort by us either online or elsewhere. We service, literally, hundreds of satisfied customers weekly throughout the country. In addition, if one of our technicians is found to be conducting himself unethically, we immediately excuse him from working for us again. Our business has a zero tolerance policy towards unethical behavior or any other deceptive practice. Thirdly, It is a corprorate policy not to provide any work on an elderly person's residence who seems in need of assistance. We also inquire if someone else in a partcipant in the decision making process. This customer has shown herself to be quite capable of making purchasing decisions based on her level of intelligence and ability to comprehend everything which was explained. In closing, we do offer discounted ventilation system cleanings on the phones as well as on Angie's List and Valpack. Direct contact telephone solicitation is a form of marketing which is perfectly legal and used by Fortune 500 companies worldwide. The facts is, despite our marketing efforts to complete work on ventilation systems that are needed, we do very little additional work when compared with the number of cleaning jobs we provide. Customers are often surprised that their systems require much more work than a simple cleaning. We are required to point out any damage we discover and allow them to make an informed decision. In 100 cleanings, we may provide additional services to perhaps 25 of them. We do not have a "closed door" policy when it comes to dealing with complaints. The actual price charged per foot for the amount of work completed on this job was well within the industry standards. We did provide more than a lining system. Some homeowner's are not in the same industry and are unaware of the current rates for such laborious work.
