If you are looking to book a professional DJ or Photographer for your event, I would strongly advise you to not book A Solid Gold Sound. Also if you are a DJ or a photographer looking to sub-contract or do business with A Solid Gold Sound, I again, would strongly advise you to seek work on your own and not do business of any kind with A Solid Gold Sound.

Please allow me to take a few minutes to EXPOSE these scammers for what they truly are:
The company has a great website with a lot of flashy come-on. Don't let this reel you in. They talk about their Professional DJ's and Photographers that are available to serve you for your special events, offering you great discounts if you spend more. (more come-on)

Truth is:
A Solid Gold Sound has no DJ's nor Photographers, nor Vidoeographers nor any such people of their own to serve you. Basicly all they have is an ad and a telephone. This is why you are not contacted until the very last minute by your DJ. They are still trying to locate one for you.

Here's what they do:
They go to bridal shows in large cities and towns and set up their booths with their fancy come-on flashy colorful ads and try to get as many bookings as they can for weddings or any event. Then they try to hire out DJ's and others to go to these events and provide their services. I've even seen their ads on Craigslist.com in search of DJ's. There are several problems with this though. Firstly, they don't interview the people they send out to these events face to face beforehand so they haven't the least idea what they look like who they really are, if they've showered in the past month or anything. I mean these people could be sex offenders for all they know. Yet they're still ready to send them out to do YOUR event. Why should they really care though? They're not planning on paying them anyway.

It's just another part of their scam to rip people off. This is why they only have DJ's who suck doing their bidding for them. The real professional DJ's will do a gig or two for them until they get wise and learn they are not going to be paid then they stop working for them.

A Solid Gold Sound could be a great company to work for or to hire for your event if they would simply pay their service people who work for them. It's like running an ice cream shop but you want your vendors to supply free ice cream.

Bottom line is:

A couple getting married hires them to Dj their reception event and they're lucky if anyone shows up to do it. If someone does show up they're not professional as promised. They don't have the music you spent hours pondering over and they're not dressed appropriately. They may have never even had any prior experience DJ-ing a wedding reception. I know for a fact they have sent me out to do events and have promised the wireless mics included in their package and I have told them over and over again, I do not have wireless mics, but they say go anyway. This shows they really don't care about your event or what they have promised you in your package. They just want your money and once they get it, it's a whole new ballgame.

End result:
Your wedding day is ruined and your out several hundred dollars and it's too late to do anything about it aside from hauling them into court.(Which by the way, isn't at all a bad idea.)
I've read stories about how people chose A Solid Gold Sound because they were on a budget and Solid Gold Sound was so reasonable. Reasonable?!? You call $495.00 and up for a four hour event reasonable? If so then you'd better do some more shopping around because there are professional DJ's out there who would be glad to do your event for less than $400.00 and many for under $300.00. I, myself only charge $75.00 per hour to do a wedding reception if it isn't too far of a drive. A Soild Gold Sound is like the middle man. They charge you $495.00 and up to do your event and then hire it done for $175.00-$225.00 and this is why people are so surprised at the bad service they're getting for their money. Some don't get DJ's at all because the guy decided since he didn't get paid for prior events that he's gonna screw A Solid Gold Sound by not showing up for your event and it is Y. O.U. the consumer who ends up getting hurt and ripped off. Then when they try calling A Solid Gold Sound to get their money back they get placed on hold or told, so and so's out to lunch or taking other calls or call back tomorrow or let me check on that and get back with you and so on. I'm really in awe at how they stay in business but I guess there is always some young kid out there just getting started DJ-ing who doesn't know about them and needs the work and is willing to take a chance to make a buck or two. Well let me tell you now, forget it! Don't sub-contract with A Solid Gold Sound because they will not pay you! They'll give you every excuse in the book when you call them but you won't get paid. If you do get paid, you will have to take them into small claims court like I am doing now. Consumers if you want to get your money back from this company, I urge you also don't call and send them emails and waste more of your valuable your time. File a complaint against them in small claims court. You do not need to retain a lawyer for this. You simply need your documentation and a filing fee which varies from county to county. They will have to pay this back also when you Win your case.

Better Business Bureau of Cincinnati says this company is out of busineess. I don't know where they're getting their information but A Solid Gold Sound is not out of business. Their website is still up and they are more than happy to take your booking and rip you off. They are scamming people daily out of hundreds at a time and no one seems to wanna do anything about it. Don't waste your time with A Solid Gold Sound folks. Trust me, they are not worth the stress and headache they'll cause you, even if their service was free.

Does A Solid Gold Sound owe you money?

AUTHOR: gemcityjeff - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 04, 2010

If you are a DJ who has done events or gigs for A Solid Gold Sound and have not been paid and you're tired of them stringing you along or if you are a client who has found found the services of A Solid Gold Sound Unsatisfactory and can not come to an agreement for settlement, then there is one simple way to get answers and have your problems resolved. Do what I did. Go to the courthouse in your city or town and file a small claim against them. It does not matter how far away you live from their office headquarters in greater Cincinnati or northern KY. You need go no farther than the courthouse located in your own city. Tell them you wish to file a small claim, pay your $20.00 to file and you will receive a court date and they will also be served notice that they are being sued and when they need to appear. Be sure to copy emails and keep all paperwork or contracts you may have and take them to court with you. DJ's need to submit proof thtat they did have a contract to fo gigs for ASGS. Simply make copies of emails they have sent you asking you to do certain events for them. You will also need the name of the company and the address. Do not put Mr. Doyal's name on the suit, trust me, he'll appear or send a company rep.

I took them to court and I got paid in full in January of 2010. I no longer do work for them and neither should you. Unless you enjoy being stiffed and hasseled over your pay.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Don't believe it...

AUTHOR: Michael johnson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 22, 2010

In March, I was called by an employee of Solid Gold and asked for my social security number so they can send out a 1099 for me (please note, 1099s are supposed to be mailed by 1/31).  At that time I pointed out that I STILL had not been paid for a couple of gigs that I did 8 months before.  The person was very nice and assured me that they were behind and doing everything possible to get everyone paid.  They apologized profusely and said that they would call me back within 24 hours to give me the status of my payment.

I gave them a fake SS#, they hung up and that was the last I heard of them.

A Solid Gold Sound Follow Up Report

AUTHOR: gemcityjeff - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 20, 2010
After meeting with A Solid Gold Sound's new owner, Mr. Doyal, I came to the conclusion that he wasn't the evil villain I'd made him out to be. Therefore, we were able to come to an agreement regarding the monies that were owed me. Mr. Doyal also informed me that he did intend to pay all djs and vjs that are owed money no matter how long it takes. He is trying very hard to repair the image of the company due to prior mismanagement. I do believe he is the right man for the job because he did come across to me as quite sincere. This is very good news to others that may still be owed money by A Solid Gold Sound.

A Solid Gold Sound Has No Disc Jockeys

AUTHOR: gemcityjeff - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 02, 2009

This will confirm that A Solid Gold Sound has no professional DJ's of it's own.

This is a follow-up report to the one I just put out a few days ago. In it I stated that A Solid Gold Sound did not have any professional DJs of their own as they claim on their website and in their brochures that are sent out to potential clients. This is why they can not tell you who will be emceeing your event because they themselves do not know. They're too busy trying to recruit someone to subcontract your event out to. Advertising on web sites such as Craigs list to find people. Any people. Who knows who they will end up sending to DJ your wedding reception or party, or if they can find anyone at all. You can read many complaints about A Solid Gold Sound that state that no one showed up and how A Solid Gold Sound ruined their wedding day.

Just yesterday, 12/01/09 I received this email from A Solid Gold Sound in search of DJs to fill scheduled events for 12/05/09. So as you can clearly see here in the email below, it is only 4 days until these events are to take place yet A Solid Gold Sound is still out trying to recruit DJs to subcontract out to do these events for them. This is why the DJ never calls you ahead of time and says, "Hey, everything is on track and I'll be there for you." This is why Brides go into panic attacks the day before their wedding is to take place because they have booked with an unstable, irresponsible, credit card scamming, company like A Solid Gold Sound. Here is the email I received from them yesterday 12/01/09:

Here are the remaining shows available for the weekend of 12-5-09. Reply back asap and we will confirm you on the job. Thanks for all you do and have a great week!

I sure am glad none of these events are mine. Sad too that if any DJs do take any of these events, thay won't get paid for months and months following if at all.

Here is the email I received from them after I inquired about when I would be paid for an event I had successfully completed for them way back on 10/17/09:
