Michael Harrington and A Star Auto Sales are TOTAL scam auto dealers! I purchased a vehicle from them in March 2011 and was told that the vehicle was in excellent condition. I paid almost $1,000 down and made arrangements for monthly payments. It turned out that the vehicle was a "parts" car and did not run. After spending nearly $4,000 in repairs just to get the car running, A Star Auto has not returned my calls and will not register the car or title - over a year later. After researching, it turns out that A Star Auto is not even a real company registered in FL and the owners/dealer is not even licensed to do business in the state.

I have contacted the state department of motor vehicles to conduct an investigation and now I have to jump through so many hoops just to even be able to legally drive the car.

DO NOT buy a car from these crooks! They are a total scam dealership and are not even licensed to be an auto dealer in Florida.

RE: Question from "Coast" about test drive

AUTHOR: Keith - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 19, 2012

@Coast - not sure why you're asking but to answer your question.... when I arrived to see the vehicle, I was told that the brake pads needed to be replaced and that allowing me to test drive the vehicle would be a liability for them. Obviously, this should have been a red flag for me as a buyer but they assured me that the vehicle was in perfect running condition. Another red flag (hindsight is 20/20) was that the vehicle was being "stored" at their private home. The problem is/was that they are (supposedly) an auto dealer and their home was a glorified junk yard.

Just a couple of life lessons learned (the hard way) when buying a car. The real issue here is that the dealer is NOT actually a dealer after all, nor an active corporation in the state of Florida. They also never registered the vehicle for me/with me and, according to DMV records and filings, did not receive and transfer the title until 60+ days AFTER I purchased the vehicle from them. Very strange people and a very strange situation and transaction. Anyway, there is now an open investigation with the state and DMV, as they seem to just be a total scam and fake operation. It seems as though I've opened a can of worms that should've been opened a long time ago.....
