It all began with a phone call to AAA Countrywide van lines. Liz Spano (salesperson)will sell you anything and say anything to get your business to move your household.

When the driver pulled up to our home to load he demanded cash.He was in a truck not marked with the same name of the company we hired. The driver said they were the same. He said his contract was to be in cash. Our so called contract said any type of payment except checks so we paid by visa (which we would recommend)He also said we were to pay by cubic feet and we had already been given the price by the pound. After a wait and phone calls we agreed to pay by pound.

Our home was packed by us and carried into the garage at our home. Only 20 steps from the truck. All they had to do was put it on the truck. 2 DAYS to move the items out of the garage. My son and I moved all the items into the garage originally in less than 4 hours. We have moved across the Atlantic several times so we knew how to pack our home. The driver brought a truck that was 75% - 80% filled and our belongings would not all fit. So they had to store it in a facility near our home, and pick up the remaining the next day. All furniture was packed with bubble wrap then wrapped with cardboard and then shrink wrap.

There were two young men around 23 years old, one who could not speak any English and the other who spoke little English from the Ukraine.

The driver would not mark down each box and the contents that were inside eventhough we asked. He dropped boxes off of the side of the truck several times. We spoke to him and he said,"you pack...your problem, we pack....our problem". We again calle dtheir dispatch and he agreed with the driver. We called their supervision and they said no that that was not right, called again and the supervision changed their minds and said the driver was right.

We were told that we could contact dispatch any time to find out where the truck was. The trucker said our belongings would be leaving for our destination the following day so we called the next day and dispatch said it was on its way to our destination.

When we talked with Liz she assured us that our belongings would arrive around the 1st or 2nd of July since it was a direct shipment. She was not in the office on July 2nd or July 3rd or July 4th and we were told to call back the 5th. My husband took the week off so we could have the week to move and not be so exhausted.

July 5th we called and they said we were not scheduled for delivery until the 11th or 12th. Liz was surprised that we had not recieved our goods and said she would talk to dispatch because it was a direct order. She NEVER called us back and at this point she was totally unavailable. We made several phone calls to find out where our household was..It was still in our home town. They lied to us and kept putting us on hold and NEVER returning our phone calls. We were told that we could have reported it stolen but at this point all we wanted was our stuff.

They arrived July 12th. When they opened the back of the truck it looked like our belongings had been loaded by a front end loader..upside down, items broken, boxes smashed. They put 8 boxes on a small three legged pedastal table (which was broken) Steel Craftsman tool box smashed through the steel top and down into the tool tray with many of the tools missing from it. IT was a nighmare and it did not get any better. We took pictures of everything.

When it was ready to sign we had itemized all the damages and boxes missing that we could even determine. We signed the inventory list paper and noted over and over agin on them about the items lost and broken adn that the items were not numbered , etc. After we signed the driver began adding and changing items on the contract. We told him that is illegal in the U.S. and we called dispatch again to report the problem we had with him.

The moving company dispatch said that there was no problem with him doing this; again an illegal act. So we had a new list redone and signed it listing the items that did not have tags but also were broken missing/stolen. This time we took our copy immediately so he could not write on our copy.

When we went to weigh the truck the driver once again, The driver showed me his copies of his inventory list and he had added insurance requirements after I had signed some of them. They had a photo copier there and I made a copy of his paperwork. He was upset so he said OK I'll sratch off the added insurance issues.

By then I had a copy of the original the altered on and the scatched out one. Another illegal act. The driver began changing the "bill of lading" from the original and at this time there was a witness at the weigh station that witnessed everything the driver had done. He insisted that we sign it and this is when I drove off in our vehicle and told him we would not sign any document that has been altered from the original. We left without signing because he was being dishonest and we could no longer trust them.
