Original quote=800, that does not include the mandatory 75 membership fee, also that is for a 6 month policy, paid in full
Cash price, if not= 975 per 6 months. In addition that $800 is only valid with a renter's policy, and a mandatory AAA membership After 30 days, get a rate increase of 200 dollars. 6 month renewal is now 1315.00.
When shopping for insurance a Met life person said this would happen, I said nay, it's AAA not flyby night insurance Well it happened, and I am furious, something needs to be done with these monopolistic insurance companies. These rate increases aren't always justified, especially in this case.

AAA uses the above incentive tactics to get you in the door. Low initial rate, then statistically your are a safe driver for 6 months of driving, after that the chance of an accident goes up, so they base their rates on that.

if people don't renew, then they already made the money because you signed up for a AAA $75 annual membership, then the renters policy, and gave them cash in their pocket. Cash is of more value than having monthly statements, and late fee's and all of the Mail and work with that.

Just be careful when choosing this company. Most new cars come with roadside protection anyway. Good Luck

From the CSAA Website when you ask for an insurance quote:

"You do not need to be a AAA member to get this quote; however, membership is required before a policy can be issued."

CSAA is the California State Automobie Association, the AAA affiliate that covers Northern California as well as Nevada.

Anyways my guess is theat the OP did an online quote (or perhaps over the phone,) did not disclose the speeding violation, and was quoted accordingly. When they were in the actual underwrting process it was discovered, hence the rate change.

Perhaps being honest upfront would have spared you all this trouble.

Denise wrong on another point.........

You do not have to be a "member" to get insurance through AAA. Maybe your particular state or agency requires it, but.........

I lived in OK and purchased AAA insurance fro Scott Jeter's agency in OKC and was insured through AAA MO.

I did not purchase any membership or any other products or services from any AAA provider.

I was NOT a AAA member, but had insurance through AAA.

Explain that.

DENISE YOUR WRONG..

AUTHOR: Howard - (U.S.A.)

MAYBE if AAA was such a great company they would have actually rated dale correctly, meaning maybe ran his driving record at the time the application was written,, yes ever co, has the access to do so,, cause i can get 48 states records in 30 seconds. So maybe AAA didnt really care about dale, so they took his money then screwed him later with that underwriting crap.
yes there is underwriting for every policy, but come on, why take his money with out running the record first.

Looks like you pulled a scam on dale, take his money them charge him the rest later,,,,instead of quoting him with all his violations, he probably wouldnt have bought the policy,,,,this way even if he cancels you still keep some of his money from earned premium and the EVER popular cancellation fees for canceling early.

#1 UPDATE Employee

it was discovered that Dale had a speeding violation

AUTHOR: Denise - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 31, 2005

Dale's policy was written by his agent at $798.00 for a six month term. During the underwriting period it was discovered that Dale had a speeding violation on February 6, 2004 that had not been disclosed on the application. This caused a premium increase and Dale's policy was issued at $1,004.00.

At the end of his first term a renewal offer was sent to Dale. The renewal offer was $1,346.00 for the next six month term. Dale's renewal offer included a charge for an accident that had occurred on November 6, 2004. After further investigation it was determined that Dale was not at fault for this accident and a revised renewal offer was mailed. His revised renewal offer was $1,085 for a six month term.

AAA Insurance is a membership organization and as such you have to be a member to purchase their products. There is significant benefits to being a AAA member and the ability to purchase our insurance is just one of many.
