In November 2012, my wife took my 2009 Dodge Ram into AAMCO for a transmission service. I was deployed during this time so I was unable to deal with this myself. The service was completed and paid for and no additional repairs were recommended.
A month after the services were completed my wife took a trip to California to visit family over the holidays. The truck broke down in Carlsbad, CA and was taken to the local dealership. The service manager indicated that the transmission was 2 quarts low on fluid and the wong type of fluid was used. She indicated that the transmission had just been serviced a month ago. The cost to repair the truck was $1213.56.
When my wife returned to Washington, she called AAMCO and explained what happened. At first they seemed very cooperative but then started to give her the run around and question the validity of everything the dealership said was wrong. Finnally they said they were not responsible and offered nothing to make the situation right.
On my return from deployment, I called and spoke with Dale (he is listed as the owner on the BBB website). He told me that nothing they did to my truck would have caused the type of failure that occurred. I informed him that I found it strange that leaving the transmission 2 quarts low would not cause any damage and this issue was totally unrealted. He stood by his position.

Went to work for Big Bob, former Husky football great. He owned multiple locations. I had applied to work at one location, but after hired had to drive to other location for training. No big deal, learned the script they use on you when you call and ask questions. Believe me, they spend money on a national level to separate you and your money with rebuilt transmissions. Anyway Big Boob lied about my wages, hours and job discription. Only stayed there for roughly month and a half but learned what a shady operation AAMCO really is.
Thank you for your service to our country. I am sorry these clowns didn't do the right thing. I wonder if they still operate across from Freedom bridge in Lakewood. I think they prey on military familes in particular, you being away and your wife left to deal with the wolves.
Also most of the employees at the time I worked there were high on some sort of stimulant, and I don't mean coffee.
By the way, they also own American Tire across the street from Lakewood location, so they are happy to point you there for tires you don't really need.
