i brought my 1995 taurus into this aamco dealership with a complaint of downshifting at its own will regardless of speed or temperature and that it was an intermittent problem.

i am a service manager at a class 8 truck facility and am somewhat knowledgable about repairs. i told them i felt as though i had an electrical problem instead of a mechanical.

they performed thier diagnostic procedures and informed me my problem was internal.

they quoted me a price of 1275.00 for an all soft parts overhaul and i gave them the o.k. to proceed.

they called me the following day and informed me that after disassembly i would require some hard part replacement in order to properly repair my transmission. the additional cost would bring my total up to 1746.57

being somewhat skeptical. i again reviewed my complaint and re-stated my opinion that this was an electrical problem. the service manager assured me that this would cure my problem. i gave them the o.k. to proceed.

i picked up my car a couple of days later and paid my bill. i left the dealership and went about five miles when my original complaint reappeared.

i brought my car right back to the dealership. they kept my car for two weeks. each day i would call them to check on the progress and they would infomr me that they were waiting for parts.

i picked up my car after the two weeks. they told me that they had installed a shift kit and road tested my car extensively.

i drove away and experienced the same problem immediately. they asked me to bring my car to a ford dealership for an electronic scan. the ford dealership performed thid diagnostic and told me i needed a speed sensor and an mlp sensor. they had the parts in stock and repair cost would be 215.00

i called the aamco dealer while i was at the ford dealership and informed them. they told me not to have it repaired at the ford dealership as it was too expensive. they would order the parts themselves and install them for me at no charge.

it has been five weeks since then and they still have not recieved the parts. i call them daily to see if the parts are in. they tell me the parts are not in and they will call the ford dealership right now to find out where the parts are and call me back immediately.

to this day i have not recieved one call from them. i always have to take the innitiative to call them and beg to have my car repaired. and all i get is the same empty promises.
