in 2006 i went to aarons to buy a lawnmower for my husband on a monthly rentale after the first month my husband and i got a large settlement in so i went in to the store an i payed off the lawnmower with a check from the account that we had made with the large sum of money.

a week later aarons calls us and told us that the check we had given them was no good.so we called them and asked them how it was no good we had alot of money in there. they told us that a man from a bank called them and told them there was no money in that account.so we took a deposit slip to them and showed them that there was the money in it.

so my husband told them cant we just make the payments to pay it off and he told us no that was no good enough for them. we said ok and told them to come and pick up the lawnmower. and they did. then he called and told us that he wants the amount of the check. the lawnmower and the bounce check fee. but there is one thing to the bounce check fee. they never deposited in the account.so they sent a warrent out for my husband because they said tha the check was bad. he has to go to court for this stuff and we never did anything wrong

the money was there and they decided to keep everything and told us we still have to pay for something we dont even have. and when we pay them they still dont have to give it to us this is so very wrong and we dont think we have to pay them nothing.

The customers in refernece to this compliant wrote Aaron's an NSF check. The store filed with the states attorney's office as is normal proceedure with any company that recieves an NSF check. After the store filed with the states attorney's office the customers returned the merchandise. The store can not take payments on the NSF check it must be paid in full. According to state laws the customer is responsible to pay for the check. This is not only Aaron's policy but the law. Any further questions in reference to this may be directed to our Divisional Office at 704-845-5064

Something doesn't sit right with me. How long after your settlement deposit did u write a check to aaron's for the lawnmower. If it was within a few days, the money would not be avalible in your account. So just because your deposit slip said there was money doesn't neccessarily mean the money was avalible. Classic misunderstanding. #2. If you do pay for that check that aarons has within 90 days, they must give you the lawn mower. I really don't think the manager told you that you could not have the lawn mower if u paid the check. I think u are misunderstanding him if this is the case. Go in and talk to him.
