Yesterday evening, February 19, 2009, my husband and I were surfing the web looking for the "As Seen on TV" Ab Rocket. We found it on Amazon.com, then continued to surf to locate other companies that sold the product. Simply put, we just wanted to find the best deal.

I came to abrocketsales.com's OFFICIAL (sarcastic) website. The only pricing information I could locate was $14.95 for a 30 day trial. Additionally, there was a square to click in if I wanted the complete price, and not the trial, so I clicked the whole price square, filled out the entire form, including credit card information, (thinking that it would give me the complete transaction total, then giving me the option to purchase or walk me through the entire checkout process, which I could cancel at anytime). All other companies I deal with online have an extended checkout process that gives you more than one opportunity to decide not to purchase. I had planned to get the total price using this method, then logging off (or purchasing, depending on what the price was). Well, lo and behold, after clicking a series of "no thank you's", etc., an order confirmation number suddenly appeared on the screen. According to this, I had just purchased the product in it's entirety.

I have been using the computer for years and am very familiar with online ordering, bill paying, etc., however, this was the first time I had ever seen a company perform a purchase without all proper disclosures, etc.

Frantic that I had just purchased an AbRocket for $119.85 (which ended up being the price AFTER all was said and done and which was higher than Amazon's, so I would not have purchased from AbRocketSales.com anyway), I clicked on the customer service link. A box came up with the company's office hours, and their toll free number which is 866-709-3413. According to this information, I would have to wait until 8:30 am the following morning, Feb 20, to call so I could cancel this transaction. At 8:31 I began calling. One or the other of two things would happen each time I called. Either I would dial, and the phone wouldn't ring for approximately 30 seconds, I would hear a click and an operator would come on saying to please try your number again later. Or, I would dial the number and get a busy signal. After about an hour or so, I called our bank, and the bank rep checked our account (it was a debit card I used), and she informed me that the purchase had NOT posted (much to my delight). We immediately closed the debit card over the phone, and now have to wait a week to 10 days for our new cards. This way, if Abrocket attempts to process the debit card I used last night, the debit card will be invalid, as we got new ones this morning. Happy with our local credit union's services, I went back to my old mission of trying to contact this company, which claims to be the official site. As of 6:00 this evening, and after approximately 20 calls, there has been no contact with the company. There is no local information, i.e., about us, etc., no way to email the company, just one big advertisement and a clearly stated area for them to get your money.

My complaint to them is that they should clearly state what the total is, before charging your credit card (debit card). And, they have the worst customer service imaginable. Oh, and by the way, while speaking with our bank/credit union this morning, she pulled up the website and found some fine print, saying 3 easy payments of 39.95 each, or 3 easy payments of 39.95 each, plus the 14.95 trial period price. So, we had to go back to grade school and do some math to try and figure out what the total would have been. According to the fine print it could have been one of two totals!

By all means, everyone, check the site out! It's As Seen On TV and boy is it Official! AbRocketSales.com

Not to mention that after I got off the phone with the credit union, I had to get online to go to all my online bill pay sites and make sure I was using my checking account number and not our old debit card number, since we still have a couple of bills pending.

Oh, and by the way, we did buy the AbRocket from Amazon. They were 40.00 cheaper, and we love Amazon. Have never had a problem with them.
