I had my car's oil changed at Jiffy Lube in Aberdeen MD.,a day or so later the check engine light came on. The car was taken back for the problem. A computer check was done and a code came out, but, the person that did the test didn't know what it meant. I took the car to Midas were it was determined that 4 Oxygen sensors needed to be replaced. While replacing the sensors it was found that one of the sensor's connectors up front by the oil filter had been moved from its anchor point and was laying against the exhaust manifold melting the electric plug and shorting out the sensors. Bill= $610.36, the manager at the Aberdeen jiffy lube said "I don't think so" and gave me the number of the owner Jeffrey D. LaCroix who told me " it was not possible". "I'm not paying" and hung up on me. I have sent this to the Better Business Bureau 12/29/05

The Kettle is still black

AUTHOR: Stuart - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2006

Since when is Midas the expert over Jiffy Lube? Replacing 4 oxygen sensors?? What was the first clue that there may be another problem? After they replaced ALL of the oxygen sensors (as there are only 4),or when they tripped and smelled the wires burning on the manifold? Kind of like the old adage, "the blind leading the blind". I'm not defending Jiffy Lube. After all, hiring 16 year old high school drop-outs could only lead to "you get what you pay for". It wouldn't surprise me if the kid from Jiffy Lube was now diagnosing the 4 oxygen sensors at Midas.

Automotive electronics are equal to the electronics used in the space shuttle. Can you imagine a Jiffy Lube or Midas employee working on anything more complicated than a refrigerator door? In life you get what you pay for. Next time your at you're doctor's office ask him if he earned his degree or printed one on his laptop. Get the point?

If you think your local dealer is charging too much, remember that oxygen sensors average $100 each, a wiring repair averages $80. So who really got lubed?

Consider yourself lucky

Actually you are very lucky. Most people that take their cars to Jiffy Lube end up replacing their engines at about 5 to 6 thousand bucks or ten times what you spent. These guys at Jiffy have no clue what they are doing, so never never have Jiffy lube even wash your car let alone change oil. The one that really gets me is when Jiffy Lube works on a transmission, and the repair bills after that are about 2500 for a rebuild. And now you have gotten a taste as to how Jiffy Lube takes care of their customers after they screw something up. They simply say I'm not paying and hang up. So if you really want a new engine, or really want that transmission rebuild then take it to Jiffy Lube.
