I submitted a sample for analysis to Accu-Metrics. The purpose was to determine if I have any genetic predispositions towards certain known conditions.   Prior to submitting the sample, I knew the following:

  • I have been diagnosed with Lactose Intolerance by two family doctors.
  • I have been diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolimia by two family doctors and research physician at a local university, confirmed by multiple blood tests through accredited laboratories.
  • Both my parents have high cholesterol
  • My mother has type 2 diabetes.
  • Multiple blood screenings over the years have confirmed I was 'borderline' risk for diabetes (this is managed through diet now)
  • A recent colonoscopy revealed 'no issues' and I am not at risk for bowel cancer.
  • I have a full head of thick hair that grows so rapidly, I need weekly cuts. (I know this seems randon, but it will factor in below)

After submitting payment for the service, I was forwarded a test kit. I submitted a DNA sample for exam, and the report that was returned indicated the following, among other things:   -The 'lactose intolerance' gene variant was absent
-The 'familial hypercholesterolimia' variant was absent.
-I was 'low risk' for both type one and two diabetes
-I was 'low risk' for coronary disease
-I was 'medium risk' for colon cancer
-I carried the 'male pattern baldness' gene variant   This is clearly in contradiction to the proven information that was established by recognized, licensed physicians and laboratories. Given these known inconsistencies, it throws the entirety of the test results into doubt. If I had the funds available, I would like to test some of the other 'conditions' that they flagged me for, as I'm fairly certain they'd be proven not to be an issue either.   I've sent multiple email requests for an explanation or refund, to no avail.   Stay away from this company at all costs. They will NOT provide you with accurate information.
