This company hired me and treated me poorly.  Very shady tactics they use against their employees.  These tactics include harrassment in order to get an emplyee to quit so they cannot collect unemployment.

While working for this ambulance company I was taught how to "play the game".  Playing the game is basically making the accounting department happy (the only employee in the accounting department is the daughter of the owner) by excessivly billing for unecessarty things so that medicare would cover the cost of it and the owners would get $$$$ paid that awesome governenment money thru medicare and medicaid.  Yes, I was taught how to inflate costs.  I was told that is how I moved up in the company.

I honestly do not know how this company is still in business.  Here is a news story done that mimics ExXACTLY what I am talking about:

This place isn't all that bad, it use to have bad ownership and managment but with a sale of the company things are looking up. The bad managment had zero to do with billing but rather with the horrible leadership provided by B. Wallace.  Back in the Wallace days he treated dispatch and billing like gold and he let the EMTs and Paramedics know that we are replacable. His daily company-wide nastygram emails over a rock chip in a windsheild the day after a snowstorm where C-DOT used sand to keep the roads clear of snow.

As far as the billing habits of this company, thats just how medicare and medicad are.  In your patient care report you have to detail why this transport is needed per medicare.   Trust me, there have been many times I did a transport that did not meet the requirments of medicare.  I was honest in my report and straight up with billing.  Action Care will not submit a bill to medicare if the transport didn't meet the treshold needed for a BLS transport, in fact Action Care has in many cases gone back to the agency that setup the transport under BLS and fined that agency for the transport.

You have to be clear with medicare in your patient care report, as a healthcare provider, as to why this transport is needed. Don't get upset at action care over this.  I've gone straight to billing after a handful of transports and they have flagged my report for me, and gone back to the case manager at the hospital that setup transport and taken care of issues that way.

I think whats going on is you need to work on your documention.  Try to be a better healthcare provider!

I beleive the same person that wrote the ripoff report also wrote a similar report on yelp.  He is most likely upset beause he couldn't hack it at Action Care.

I worked at Action Care for a long time, overall treated with respect by both managment and peers.

Action Care is listed by the BBB as having an A+ rating.  As of this posting Action Care has zero complaints in the last 12 months listed on the BBB.

you were fired, okay move along. No need to trash the company.   Or you learned to become an EMT and didn't realize that in the Metro denve system, unless you get hired onto a fire department, you will be doing mostly transfers, taking Grandpa back to the Nursing home.  Suck it up buttercups!
