I balanced transfer on their introductory rate of 0% apr. I made my payments as usual and after 2 months they said that my payment was two days late. I told them I mailed it out a week before and it was post marked before the due date. They told me that the payment post when they receive it not when I mail it. My rate went from 0 to 7.99% which was not bad so I kept them.
About 2 more months went by and my rate went from 7.99 to 26.31% without any notice. I called and emailed them and they said they use Trans Union to monitor my account and they increase it when they deem I am a "risk". I never got any notice from them and I open up all my mail. I asked them to credit me the finance charges and they said no. I asked if I paid off my balance, I won't owe anything else and they said correct. I paid off the balance and another bill comes home for $145.93 for the accrued interest on the balance I had.
I called them back up and said that one of their reps told me that once I paid it off , it is zero balance. I also checked online and it showed a zero balance. I talked to Trina extension 4483 who was suppose to be the supervisor of the supervisor of customer service and she said balance accrues daily so there is nothing they could do. I paid $147 and closed my account so let's see what other amounts owed they throw at me next month.

I had luck getting my interest back from Advanta after I closed it by filing a complaint with the Utah BBB. Advanta gave me back the interest they charged me for the higher rate for the 1 month they got away with it before I caught them, closed off my acccount, and paid them off.
If anyone is reading this and is thinking about opening an Advanta card, I strongly suggest you use American Express, or Citibank, or anyone but Advanta.
