Advanta got my girlfriend to sign up for their business card with 7.9 % interest. She has always made her payments though she has been several days late on a couple of occassions. the have now jacked her interest rate up to 34.99%!

We tried to negotiate and complain. We got a girl in India on the other end of the phone with a very, very thick accent who said they would not negotiate. We finally got them to promise to have a supervisor respond. The supervisor sent us an e-mail saying they would not lower the interest rate at all. they said to call back in 90 days and they were not sure that they would lower it then.

Is this Usurious? Unconscionable? Overreaching? is there a lawyer who can take this on?
