The fact that YOU lost the merchandise, either accidentally or through ineptness, is not the responsibility of the manufacturer. You bought the plans, Affordaplane delivered the plans... end of transaction.

You wouldn't go to Walmart and buy a videogame, bring it home - and accidentally throw it out (or have someone break into your home and steal it)... and then expect Walmart to replace it for you free of charge! You can't do that with intellectual property, either.

The response you received from Affordaplane was exactly right: their side of the contract was FULFILLED. Besides... name ONE place you can get airplane plans for $25! That is a STEAL! Most places charge hundreds of dollars for the same thing. Hundreds. The Affordaplane plans would be a bargain at 10X what they sell for!

Pay the $25 again and go on with your life - a bit wiser regarding computer files. To raise such a stink over something that was totally your fault makes you look foolish.

I can't believe someone would not backup their plans, then blame a company for not giving them another copy.  I bought Affordaplane plans nearly eight years ago when they were on sale and didn't experience any issues with the purchase or downloading of the plans.  If I had "lost" my copy after the download time expired I would have paid another $7.95 for another copy.  Even at full price they are still inexpensive compared to most other ultralight plans on the market.  When they are on sale, they are nearly free.  I purchased many sets of plans when researching ultralight aircraft and found the Affordaplane one of the more interesting models out there for its simplicity and low cost.  As for data backups, use a CD/DVD burner or external hard drive.  Saving to Google Docs is free.  Don't be a whiner....

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Affordaplane. Let me tell you mine.
I found the site for affordaplane, and like you, thought it sounded like a good deal, however, I never go into any deal blind.
I decided to check consumer reviews, and found your scathing remarks. I decided to give them a try anyways.
I did just that; I bought the plans for less than $8 and received them instantly via download. I copied a backup disc (as a clever person should) and I am very satisfied with their product. It was a great deal and convenient. I should add that I boast of no computer skills myself, but it was easy for a novice user to attain.
Perhaps your vigilance in condemning the company forced them to straighten up. . . maybe you were the problem to begin with. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

I ordered my plans through PayPal and instantly received a very complete set as a PDF download.  The plans are excellent and worth 10X's the price.

My friend Ian Morecombe from NH in the USA bought me these plans after i explained i do not have a acceptable creditcard ( i have a Australian use only card) and i do not have paypal.
From the time Ian told me that he would purchase these for me until the time the email with the plans and the password arrived was 3 days and i think this was due to the time differential

I have also got technical support on some issues without problem

If i buy a Microsoft product and lost the serial i must buy a new one
Its common practise and they cost many hundreds of dollars  not the measley $7.95 my friend paid for the plans

i think the complainer is making noise and maybe trying to use this site to "put one over" on a otherwise reputable dealer

I know of 4 other planes built by these plans in Australia alone and many more in the USA as there is a global group of users
to say there is none flying is a outright lie, or pure ignorance

this is a web site of a gent in the USA who has built his and has also helped me with tips to build mine and i fly it almost every weekend now

I know only of happy users of the suppliers plans  with the only complaints being that  some dimentions are tricky if you live in metric nations ( like Australia)

these are well done accurate and precise plans and for $7.95 dead set cheap

the complaint in my thought is nasty and makes the complainer look cheap

Just a happy customer here out to add my experience with the Dave Edwards Marketing Group. And the "Affordaplane" plans. I ordered the mail order plans set and received them in less than 2 weeks way back in 2002. Several months later ordered the e-plans and they were instantly downloaded with no problems. All emails to the company were answered promptly. I am not attempting to take sides in this matter but thought at least one satisfied customer should step forward. Since I can't see where anyone else has.

As for as GetitRepaired, Vdo-Specialties, Walker Enterprises, Pilot Specialties, staff, if you don't count the fish, wife, or children that would be a staff of 1. I take that back there may be several if he doesn't take his medication, he can be multiple people. One day he is going to sue himself and not even know it.

This is one business that I will never trust or do business with ever again. Sorry I'm digressing, let's get back to more Walker claims.

Claims to be a professional welder; claims to be an aerial photography expert; claims to be a pilot (this one is true he has flown a Cessna 172); uses pirate cell phone signals, claims to be a private investigator, is being investigated by the local DA; claims to be a screen print artist; claims to be an expert scuba diver, (ps: they are waiting for you at Fun Club Cozumel, sorry inside joke Michael couldn't resist). The list goes on and on, he has tried and failed at every get rich scheme in the book. This is the type of person you are dealing with.

This is the type of guy who would sell his own mother if it gave him the opportunity to make a buck. He has no friends and no life. He has no financial support, no insurance, no life insurance, no savings, no stocks, no bonds nothing.

He is they type of person that would raid his own child's piggy bank to get a new gadget. Be very careful people Michael has nothing left to loose so he is desperate and will try anything.

he didn't have to. They were supposed to check with the bank and after it cleared they should have sent it. They wanted to wait till they actually got the money. which would have been cool, but by that time with the e-mails, they had cancelled his order becasue he told them he was going to cancel the check. since the check already cleared they should have checked that before canceling the order preemptively(sp). also with the way the customer service guy was talking, using the agreement as a threat, it sounded like he was going to wait to do any legal thing that made him do any work until after he found the check to be canceled. He could have just waited with the package (or sent it to the next oh-so-important 11th customer) until after the check was fully deposited and then sent it.

part of running a business means helping customers, since they keep you in business. mabye the guy shoulda become a lawyer.
