AFNI, INC. ADVISED ME THAT I HAD OPENED AN ACCOUNT FOR CINGULAR WIRELESS SERVICE AND HAD NOT PAID AMOUNT DUE AND THEY WERE COLLECTING. BLOOMINGTON Illinois

I was contacted by Afni, Inc. in Jan. 2008 about an account for which they were collecting for Cingular Wireless from Nov. 2005 in Minoa, New York for services rendered to me. They placed a collection item statement on my credit report. I have never had Cingular service, never lived in New York, never placed an order for the service. I contacted AT&T, company that bought out Cingular, gave them my information, asking that they confirm that I did not owe them anything; I was put through to New York rep./division head, who informed me that Cingular had never had me as a client, did not have my social, as did Afni, Inc., and did not request a collection agency be employed to collect a debt. I now see through "Ripoff Report" that this is a common practice of Afni, Inc. Has anyone had any luck in getting this type "incident" removed from his credit report?
