I was looking for a home alarm system for our home as our time warner system was outdated and i would have nad to spend a lot of money to install a new one. I saw the ad on tv starring Joe Maitlin which appeared very sincere about his company and about customer care.
He states clearly in his commerical that he will give you a free system with free a free install and two way voice communication.I called and was screened with my credit and of course I was approved right away.An appointment was made for the install at my discrection and time which I thought was great.

The installer could not have been a nicer person ,and ask me where my phone jack was located and begin work right away.He stuck a motion censor above my front door with contact tape, another alarm simular to a first alert on the front door and one on the back door and he was finished in about 30 minutes.

He tested the system ,ask for a check with our account number and first months service, and promply left my home.
We attempted to set the alarm with our cordless phone as instructed, once we figured out we could not do this we called the company in Charlotte N C to ask for assistance. Please keep in mind this system was suppose to be new.

I was told i most likely needed a battery ,for only 29.995 they would come and install one in the master unit.

My wife and I have exchange students who pass though our home and their parents call us to check on them many times each month. each time a call would come the alarm system would go off and the phone call disconnect. I called many times for help ,the only answer I would ever get is , you need a battery for only 29.95.My bank account continued to be drafted each month for 26.50 each month. I called to complain and was promptly told you signed a 3 year contract and we will continue to take the money until the contract expires.

I called again to tell them that oct 2008 ,I wanted this contract cancelled and not to draft my account as I had met the contract, never used the system and had given them 900.00 over 3 years for nothing.I explained that I had called another company and had new service and was very happy with the new company out of charlotte. I was quickly told well, you are still going to have to pay out the contract or you can send a check now for the remaining period of the contract and you will be finished with alarm force.

I then get a call a week later from Alarm force rep asking me since i had disconnected my equipment and it was just sitting in my cabinet, could they make an appointment to come by and pick up their equipment. Please remember this was a free system once the contract was met, yet they wanted me to give it back to them after stealing 1100.00 out of my bank account over the 36 month contract.I got nothing for the 1100.00 ,no sevice,no alarm protection, no anything.I called the 800 number to ask for joe maitlin,s address, they didnt know, his email address, they didnt know, a contact number for his office ,they didnt know.Thsi company is the biggest ripoff I have encountered in my 61 years of life.My wife and i are both disabled and could have used that 1100.00 for food and medicine and power bills.I feel I have ben cheated , lied to, mislead, and treated like garbage my this company. Please dont fall for their caring t v ads, it is all a lie, they only want your money,as a customer you dont matter one bit to these people at all. Please beware, please.

After reading your complaint I called the company and emailed Mark Jose and cancelled my appointment for install as I don't want to be a victim like you were. I am a minister and live from month to month on both my retirement and ministry income. Sorry that you had to endure this but glad I check with Ripp-Off Reports before I get taken by companies like this. Thanks for your report.
