I signed up with the for six months using the advertised 5.95 special.  To cancel they told me to contact them 60 days before my contract ended and I did.

When I treid to cancel they told me that I owe them aditional $45 dollars for signals sent from my home.  That was a surprise as I had not recieved any invoice from them.  He verified my email address (they had it when they set me up as its an online company and I had to order service online).  They even sent me a welcome packet which is only one email stating my acocunt number, no other details.

So now they send me invoices generated from quicken online for $45 dollars and stating they won't cancel me till I pay it.

Here is the collection email they sent to me.

From: franklhawk@cenconlegal.com

I am reaching out to you in regards to your account with alarm monitoring services.  They have sent several emails to you over the last few weeks, including a past due notice by U.S. Mail with no response.  While you have ATTEMPTED to cancel your service, it was rejected for one of several reasons, including that it had a past due balance.

Over the next day or so you should expect to receive a phone call from their accounting department to confirm if you have any intentions of bringing your account up to date or not.  If they do not reach you or if you indicate that you do not have intentions of bringing your account up to date, your account will go into immediate default.  When your account goes into default, you will be charged an additional 60 days of services as well the retail amount for any equipment that was sent to you previously.  In addition to that, there will be a $250.00 minimum collection fee added as the account is then reported to all 3 credit bureaus which will result in the reduction of your credit worthiness.
