Albertson's Grocer Buy 1 get 1 free deli meats Ft Walton Beach Florida

I purchased some Virginia Ham at the Deli at Albertsons today primarily because it was "buy 1, get 1 free." I ordered up a pound sliced for sandwiches. When the cashier rung it up, the total was too high and I asked if I had gotten my buy 1 get 1 free on the ham since I am a preferred customer (one of those little plastic key chain cards). She said "no" you have to have two separate physical packages. I said "so if I had ordered the ham in two packages, it would have been okay?" Them - "Well no, you have to buy a pound." Me "Show me where it says that in the ad." Them (now a supervisor) "right here it says save up to 7.99)." Me - "Correct, up to, if I wanted to buy two pounds. I want one pound. Let me talk to your superviser." The bigger supervisor showed up and we walked to the meat deli. The meat cutter told her you had to buy one pound to get one free. Again I asked them to show me where it said that. They could not... I suspect that is just the way it was (though it wasn't stated.)

Long story short, they fussed about .99 pounds not being 1 pound (hey, its a deli, this is not an exact science), splitting the order into two half pound bags (which actually cost them more money), and while I did get a refund, they never did apologize.

The cashier argued with me, the supervisor argued with me, the manager argued with me, the deli meat cutter argued with me, and I won. But, from now on they can argue with themselves. Buy 1 get 1 free at a deli also could be accomplished by dividing what I buy by 2..... Don't they have Point of Sale programmers who could have set this up for them? Good grief, for all the hassle I was right, and I really think their biggest gripe was they had no way to just scan it to make it easy for them.
