I called All Floors of Orlando for an estimate.  Leroy Clayton came over to the house and measured the tile and saw the existing tile that was on the floor.  I told him that I wanted something as close to the existing tile that I had and something inexpensive as it was a rental house.  He said he was going back to the office to calculate what we needed and would call.  My girlfriend and I went in with a piece of the tile in the rental house to match up to and selected a tile that was a pale cream tile that was almost exact.  The salesman showed us several and gave us a few prices but would not give us the name of the tile we eventually chose (even thought my girlfriend asked for it for our records), saying he had it written down in our file and when we were ready to order, he'd take care of us.

We called several days later saying we wanted the tile we'd selected and were told to come in to place our order.  The salesman said that they didn't have any tile in their storefront and would get it from "their" warehouse so would take a few days to get to their location.  We opted for going to their warehouse to pick up the tile.  Upon getting their we noticed that the tile was not the tile we had selected at the store.  Not only wasn't it cream, but it was at least 20 shades darker in a rust color.  We called the store and told them of the error and the salesman there said that we could select another tile that was close and he could get it in a few days for us.  The warehouse had tile but none that could be gotten in under a week outside of porcelain tile and what we had ordered was ceramic.  We were under a time crunch and couldn't wait so went back to the storefront to try and show the salesman what the problem was.

The salesman insisted that the tile was what we had ordered however when he showed us the file, he had one tile circled and with a star beside it.  That was the tile we had picked out but he had ordered a tile we had never even considered.  He had shown us another tile before which we said was too dark although he said it came in a lighter color.  We weren't aware he had written that number down and thought that he had only the one tile number in his files for the rental house.  We had taken in a sample of the tile we were matching so his having written down a completely different tile color was an error on his part.  He talks really fast and too much and seems very confused a lot of the time.  We were told that he has been fired and rehired 4 times due to mistakes.  Upon speaking with him numerous times and his trying to convince us that he'd ordered the tile we had seen at their warehouse we finally left.  He said he would talk to the owner and get back to us.

The owner got back to us and said they would take the stock back but that we had to pay a restocking fee.  When we told him that it was ridiculous because it was their error he came back and said that the warehouse had agreed not to charge the fee but we'd have to pay $50 or $60 for shrink wrap.  We again said that was ridiculous because we hadn't made the error.  He then said that I signed the paper and that there was a no refund or exchanges policy.  We went back and forth with no resolution despite explaining numerous times how his employee had made the error.  The next day the employee called several times saying that they had a check for us in the amount we paid less the shrink wrap and restocking fee.  We never took possession of the tile and now they are trying to make me pay the entire amount because I disputed this on my credit card.  They have lied and said I changed my mind to get something cheaper when the tile I ended up buying down the road was more expensive.

They are also claiming it was a special order, when I was never told it was a special order item, only that they had to get it from "our warehouse" because they had no room at the storefront to house all the different tiles.  The special order tiles we did look at were all tiles that took 2 weeks to get in and since we already had a renter, we took "stock" tiles that were available within a day or two.  They are claiming this to their credit card merchant who is siding with them.  There is another few complaints on the internet about baiting and switching and how they don't stand behind their mistakes.  I refuse to pay for someone else's mistake and will seek litigation if that is what is needed.  We were referred through family and got the family discount.

If this is how they treat family & friends, it reeks.   None of this would have happened if the salesman Joelle had just given us the name of the tile to write down instead of saying that he had the tile we had selected written in our file.  After the hole fiasco he showed us the file and he did indeed have our tile written down, circled and with a star next to it but that is not the tile he ordered.  He had another number down which we never selected and that was 20 shades darker and in another color.  We never took possession of the tile and now the owner is refusing to refund us for a mistake his employee made.   His bias lost him the sale of an entire house of tile - 3000 sf as my girlfriend had already said we were going to use them based on her cousins recommendation.  We found there had been other complaints about advertising one tile online and then switching it out for another.   I'm not sure if that was what went on but again we did not expect it due to the rave reviews and recommendation from the salon owner next door who used them several times.   I just don't know how anyone expects you to pay almost $575 for a: someone elses mistake and b: for merchandise that you never took possession of.   FRAUD, RIPOFF, UNPRINCIPLED SCAMMER!  AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

All Floors Of Orlando Stood Behind Mistake - NOT A RIPOFF!!!

AUTHOR: Smurf - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 18, 2014

We were called by Leroy, the owner of All Floors of Orlando, who after reading this report double checked his file and realized there might have been a mistake made.  Once we talked it was clear that his employee Joel (who no longer works there) never told him about our claims in the error or that he had called us about 8 to 10 times regarding the mixup, all the while claiming that his boss, Leroy was not going to do anything.  He kept insisting that it was our mistake and said that we would have to pay the restocking plus the shrink wrap.   It is obvious to us now that Leroy is very reputable and honorable as well.  Leroy went on to even disclose that once he checked our file after seeing our comment about the star next to a tile name, he found another invoice written up by his female employee with the correct tile written down.  He is going to refund us in full and apologized for his employees behavior.  Had we thought to go into the store and talk to him in person, this mixup and his employees hiding the truth would have come to light a lot sooner.   We apologize for assuming that the employee was telling us the entire story and thinking that Leroy was making us pay for something we never received.  This has all been settled more than satisfactory and we will once again do business with Leroy.
