SEO Reputation Management at its best!

I was hired in as a part time Security Officer and guaranteed 8 hours per week but was assured that there would be more hours available and that my position would lead to a full time position when a full time position became available.

Although I did receive some job training with individuals at the various posts, I was there for about a month before the management discovered that I had not had any formal training on the job. I was then scheduled for 12 hour shifts 3 days in a row. During this process a full time shift became available and I had expected to be offered that shift.

Instead, the management placed job orders with the Oregon Employment Services for a full time position on swing shift and another 8 hour part time position. When these people were hired my hours were cut back. When I asked about that I was told that I was only guaranteed 8 hours a week. When I asked about the full time positon and why it wasn't offered to me I was told that I wasn't ready. And that I had had more time to learn the job than the new employees but that they were ahead of me in training. That was a bold faced lie. I could handle any of the posts while the new hires were still asking questions.

I had heard that another full time guard had given his notice but the next day I was offered a 32 hour per week position by another company. When I called the Allied-Barton site Manager, J.T. Stachler and informed him that I had another offer and hoping that he would offer me the new full time position I was rudely told in an abusive manner "Why don't you go ahead, things haven't worked out here the way you wanted!"

I have read many of the comments here. While I do not know the complete story behind each of these situations, I do not discount them.
Private Contract Security is a service industry that is designed to do several things for the people who hire them:
1) Provide a "buffer" between the client and everyone else (read:Scapegoat)
2) Assume risk and liability (read:Take the lawsuit) for the client
3) For insurance reasons.
It does not matter what rhetoric is put out by the security company or its clients. The fact is that security works the way the real estate industry wants it to.It is a temporary job and not a career. Bringing in a union, going to the media, etc. are useless and will ultimately accomplish nothing. The same applies to labor relations boards...any fines the security company gets are merely "the cost of doing business"
In the opinion of most clients and security companies, security officers are cannon fodder...expendible to protect client interests...they are not there to protect lives.Security managers are there to make money for the security company...not look out for the individual officers or supervisors. If a manager makes a lot of money for his company, no matter what he/she says, does, etc. to do this...then that manager has no reason to worry about losing their job.All service industries have a high rate of turn-over...security is no exception, even at the corporate executive level.
All clients know what they are getting for their money and upper levels of security management and ownership are keenly aware of what is going on in the field despite what you may think. It is a highly competitive, cutthorat, and ruthless business and often the clients are the same. It is corporate America at its apex.
The situation is not right or fair. I have seen a whole lot of good people screwed over by it as well as management so incompetant that the clients laughed at them.
Personally, I would never hire a contractor to perform a "real" security function.
Remember this as well, most property managers are contractors themselves...this makes the contract security company a sub-contractor and this usually means you-know-who is always going to get the short end of it.

#2 UPDATE Employee

My husband works his butt off and gives so much for this company that takes so much from him and he gets no appreciation or even compensation that is fair for his work and dedication!

AUTHOR: Sara - (U.S.A.)

He is a supervisor who works 8 hour shifts with no lunch break or any other break. He is paid hourly, but is required to do reports and scheduling at home and gets calls daily on his personal cell phone. They want him to be available at all hours to take care of everything that comes up but won't pay him salary. I have been trying to tell him that this company only cares about their profits and we have fought about this job for 8 months now. My kids and I can't recall a party or family event that he didn't have to take or make work phone calls. We can't even go to the grocery store without getting calls from his work. They expect him to have training movies and not get paid for it. They also expect him to buy doughnuts or pizza for these meeting and pay our money for it and it takes time and fighting to be reimbursed. They do so many things that are illegal labor wise. My husband has worked 16 hour shifts til 11 pm with one 1/2 hour break, then had to be back at work at 7 am. He has given the office people a month notice that he was gonna lose and employee and they couldn't get a replacement til almost 3 weeks after the person left. Which means he had 3 people to cover 208 hours a week. That means each person would have had to work 69.34 hours a week. That didn't work! I can't wait til he isn't working for them anymore! My husband works his butt off and gives so much for this company that takes so much from him and he gets no appreciation or even compensation that is fair for his work and dedication! In my opinion this company is the worst I have ever seen. He was at another site before this one and they made empty promises for him to go to this one. Life has been so stressful since he moved sites!

I Worked For Allied Security in Texas Before It Became Barton-Allied

AUTHOR: Helene - (U.S.A.)

Sounds like the new and improved Allied- Barton is back to their old slimy tricks they pulled on me and my co-workers when they were just Allied-Spectraguard...

Do NOT work for them, Securitas, The Wackenhut Corporation or ANY of the huge megasecurity companies now.

Most of them are owned by FOREIGN Corporations anyway!

Lying is standard operational procedure to them.

They are also prejudiced against women,African Americans and in some cases, Latinos.

Consider your experience a wake-up call before you wasted your life with nothing to show for it ---like I did.
