I entered into an agreement in 7/08 to purchase a discount home decor store from Allied Systems Industries.  The agreement contained a back out clause that in the event I could not find a suitable location I would receive 100% of my down payment of $10,000.00.  It was also emphasized to me verbally that if I changed my mind for any reason I would get my money back.

In October of 2008, after searching and potentially finding a location, the landlord proved to be difficult to deal with, asking for a signed contract prior to entering the exhibits to the lease.  Based on this and the economic downturn, I exercised my right to cancel the agreement and requested a full refund of my deposit.  Fred Spindell told me that I needed to submit a loan package to receive my refund.

After consulting with my financial advisor, I told Fred that his request for a loan package to get my refund was unreasonable.  He sent a mutual release, which he drew up himself, which did not contain any language referring to the refund.  I contacted my attorney, who worked with Fred Spindell's attorney, and a mutual release was agreed upon by all parties and signed.  I received the first of three installments on 12/1/08, the second on 1/5/09.  After the third payment had not been received by 2/10/09, I contacted Fred by telephone and was told that they were going out of business and packing up the office and moving out.  He also said that at that time they were not filing for bankruptcy.  He said that if any funds became available I would receive the remainder of my refund.

In spite of what Fred said about being out of business, Allied Systems Industries continues to market their home store plus and dollar stores.  Their website is still active and they appear as a business on Franchise Emporium.  Fred apparently has since moved on to MCN Dollar Store.

It's interesting that this business and these individuals can repackage themselves and collect money in the form of down payments and then not return money, similar to a Ponzi scheme.  I warn anyone seeking to do business with Allied Systems Industries, retailstorebuilder.com, MCN Dollar Store, Marketing Consultants of Nevada and any prinicipals of these business to be cautious.

Buyer Beware

Mr. Spindell asserts that the economy was the culprit in causing the closure of Allied Systems Industries. They continued to market on-line and through Franchise websites and their phones were up as though they were in business. There is a significant number of people that have lost their life savings due to Allied's highly questionable business practices. Allied Systems Industries made promises to prospective buyers about cooperation with location procurement for these individuals but failed to fulfill their stated obligation.

Given the history associated with the default on payment refunds and Mr. Spindell's association with a similar business endeavor, it would be prudent for anyone considering entering into an agreement with MCN Dollar Stores to be extremely cautious before parting with any money. The "economic conditions" that contributed to Allied's downfall were not exclusive to them.

I was also ripped off! they lied to me and they didn't do any research in my area to find a place. They bank they used also worked with them (knowing what they did) that was fraud... I had to put a second on my home in order to get the loan I should have left then. But they kept having me try this and that with the loan and even though the economy was going under they swore that I would have to try very hard to not make a profit!!! What a liar.. I also met with Tietil in Las Vegas I thought it was strange the office was not very big not many employees.. I even went to their store which is now gone... I know a lot of other people who had signed up also and lost everything... I had to do the leg work but they kept feeding me with lies when I came across an issue didn't feel right.... Well bottom line I was only open for 6mos before I went broke the products were junk a lot of broken pieces things that were too high especially for my area!! I had to file bankruptcy and lose my home which the bank put a second on!!

PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THEIR TRAP!! AND FRED SPINDELL IS BEHIND IT ALL TAKING ALL OUR MONEY AND CLOSING UP SHOP!! NEVER NEVER TAKE MY WORD GET INVOVLED WITH ANYTHING RELATED TO ANY OF THEM!! DO YOUR RESEARCH,...

Allied Systems Inc NO LONGER EXISTS

AUTHOR: John 2 - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 11, 2009

ASI (Allied Systems, Inc.) refunded $6,666.64 to Betty Corbitt of Kennewick, WA for her home store deposit. Unfortunately, by the time the 3rd portion of $3,337 was due to Ms. Corbitt, ASI had already closed their doors and could no longer function as a going business. This was due to the banking crisis and economy in general. ASI NO LONGER EXISTED!

We spoke with Ms. Corbitt this past March and explained the situation to her. She was also assured that any time in the future, we would be glad to apply the balance that was owed to her by Allied, towards a store package of her choice with our newly formed business.

Allied Systems, Inc. was in business successfully for 19 years and was not in the business of ripping off customers. EVERYONE knows that the current economy has caused MANY businesses to close their doors and ASI was not without exception to the repercussions of the banking crisis and the current economy in America. It is not due to business practices that Ms. Corbitt did not receive the schedule refunds in their entirety prior to ASI going out of business; it was due to unfortunate timing factors that were beyond our control.

The MCN Dollar Store is an entirely new company with similar concepts as ASI, but with dramatically different policies and procedures. The update of an old website or the expiration of certain data is not indicative to a former (closed) business' ethical practices. MCN is also a member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and BBB.
