i had an alltel prepaid cellphone that i reported as stolen to the company.. they deactivated my phone and put a security question on the account but the phone was able to be activated in someone elses name and a different account. they were unable to block the phone from being reactivated and i lost a cash balance left on the account and had to buy a new phone, activation, and service.

i bought a v60i prepaid cellphone from alltel wireless. after only having the phone for 3 weeks it was stolen. i had the account deactivated with a security question believing that the phone would not be able to be activated by another person. the phone was reactivated in another name and i lost the remaing balance on the account. when i inquired about new service i was told that i could transfer the remaining balance to a new account. and on another occasion told that i could have the number changed for free. and another occasion, i was told i wouldn't have to pay another reactivation fee. in the end i had to buy a new phone, pay a new reactivation fee, and a new service fee/month of prepaid service. in the end i lost out on the whole deal..
