I was hired by this company to work at their new Harley Davidson dealership, Big Island Halrey. I was told that part of my hiring package would be to transport my personal vehicle from the main land to Kona at NO expense to me.

Upon receiving my very first pay check, they deducted the entire amount of cost for for this in the amount of $875.00. Upon this discovery, I resigned my position and requested reimbursment for this and to be paid in full for the remaining days that I worked for them.

I requested this in writing directly to Niki Van den Hurk, Bill Van den Hurk, and Tim Rasic.

Not only has this company failed to comply with their original agreement, but they have refused to pay me for the days I worked.

This is a labor board issue, and I will pursue it as well.

This company has  no idea how to treat employees let alone customers.

Obviously Mr. Objective is NOT so Objective!

AUTHOR: Worker - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, January 22, 2010

Me: I will start by saying that my father brought me up to stand up for myself. I pride myself on having a big heart and a genuine respect for those that show respect in return. But when somebody crosses that line and attempts to disrespect and or bully me, they open a can of worms they soon realize they should have never opened. I have had to scratch, claw and scrap for everything I have ever wanted.

Me: I find it very unfortunate that this person who states they have read this being objective, assumes that my statement of as they pointed out "I do not want any bad blood" and "I wish them well", is my  realization of ownership in the problem.

Me: Obviously they have misunderstood my compassion and kindness for weekness!

Me: I made that statement out of compassion and kindness for this company, understanding that they have more than their hands full! I did NOT state that because my original statement wavers! The fact is still the same.

You: The unkoothful and immature statements by Mr. Objective about me - "Very much under qualified for the task in front of you" "the complainant was a baby deer, caught in the headlights of an oncoming train Never asking for help, just waiting to be hit by the force of a locomotive." "The complainant was never one day organized, did not retain one bit of what he was taught, and failed to take on this project as something he could achieve. His lack of motivation and enthusiasm was similar to that of one who needs medication to get out of bed in the morning (unless it was to visit the hair salon or the tanning bed."

Wow, that says alot about Mr. Objective! What kind of mind set and level of maturity does this person really have?

Me: The fact is that my qualifications are proven as I broke, set, and hold records in the automotive industry with documentation to back it up! To sell 5 or 10 Harleys per month and 20 to 50 cars at the business of topic, is a walk in the park! The rental system is and was over rated as far as the difficulty portraid to me. Its not rocket science, but to the Average Operator, it all gets blown up and out of proportion. There's No need for all the drama in such a small and simple operation.

Me: Try running or being a part of companies that produce in excess of 1000 vehicles per month out of one location, and be the #1 producer among those involved in such an operation; I did. Most professionals can NOT even imagine being apart of such a team an,d as many that attempted to make the cut of such teams, were soon found out and cut from the team because of a LACK of PRODUCTION. I come from the school of "THE NUMBERS NEVER LIE"  I'm the number #1 producer everywhere I go. This is the environment I came up through and learned the right way from the start.

You: State that I - 1. Going to the gym in the morning and not being at the dealership until 9:30-10:00 (with all new employees that were less knowledgeable than himself, left standing on the sidewalk, waiting to get into the building, until he, the MANAGER shows up.

Me: The ONE day I was not at this dealership on time, was due to picking up a Harley rep at the air port. This is another example of them missing the boat with me. First they should check their sources and the qualifications of each source, and furthermore the motivation of this source to state this. I was there before each employee and was the last to leave in the process of setting this place up. Not to mention the Sunday time I was there alone working and orgininzing, while the rest of these employees were off and resting. I busted my butt with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, that is a real part of who I am! And YES, I do work out and live an extremely healthy life style. My discipline is rare and energy level is one of a kind!

You: Your statement of "In closing, had this individual begun working for me and displayed this behavior, I would be asking him for a refund on all the costs associated in bringing him to Paradise!"

Me: I personally invested more money, time, and commitment to this company by moving my family and making a real commitment. I dove in head first!

Me: I can tell you that what you state as requiring me to wrap my arms around the company "  is NOT negotiable". The fact of the matter, is each of the corporate officers attempted to dictate to me what to do. Who I should hire, how I mop a floor, how to stop employees from steeling from them and etc. On top of it, I was given the smallest office in the facility with absolutely NO air conditioning or ventelation as a gesture of how much I was worth, while the other employees were give top notch treatment with a presentable office to function in. I'm not just some sales kid off the streats!  It is this company who never gave them selves a chance to see what this proven leader is capable of.

You don't hire Air Jordon to teach basket ball, and then tell him HOW to do it. When you have a true Rock Star, you should let him play his beautiful music, rather than instruct him on your beliefe system. This Rock Star knows how to get down and truly Rock $ Roll.

Me: I'm actually that d**n good that I don't need to work, and will only work with a company who allows me to do what I know how to do. The two top producers in this company now are two gentleman that I personally trained from scratch. There is something to be said about my style and technique that the people I brought to this company can walk in and break records from the start - in a troubled economy. Get the picture yet? I truly question the intellegence?

Me: The fact in the matter is that I did not want to carry on with this time consuming in a very difficult  process of standing up for myself. But since they choose to ignore the original argument and furthermore attempt to make them selves feel better by stating immature and egotistical statements about me. I'm left with no other option than to stand up for myself.

You: Your final statement - The dealership is doing very well, treating customers with respect, courtesy, and excellent service. I am (once again) NOT an employee of this dealership, but an associate that is very close to the daily operation.

Question for you - Not an amployee of this dealership -Then who are you? Anybody can figure out this one!

You: They are doing a FINE job in a very difficult transition.

Me: This says it all for me. First of all you have done no justice for this company by creating a rebuttal on this site, as you have only enhanced the search engine in finding this upon searching for this company on line. If you really knew what you were doing, you would have left it alone and accepted my peace offering of not wanting bad blood. That was truly to this companies benefit. This posting would have just went off to the waist land, like my time did in commiting to this company!

Me: So be it though. It is not I who owe this company money. They owe me! It is not I who is standing and looking like a  " baby deer, caught in the headlights of an oncoming train". It is them who needs to figure out how to produce like the two Rock Stars I recruited for them, that are breaking records at their other locations. The potential for their business is incredible, and yet having a tough transition? I don't get it!

Me: Its one thing to state you flew somebody around like a Rock Star, its another to be humble enough to allow a rare to find Rock Star be the Rock Star he is. Word to the wise, when you find a Rock Star, ask questions rather than assume and look down upon. A real Rock Star won't put up with it as I did not! You have a lot to learn, but Its obvious that your EGO is in the way of this lesson!

Me: Best of luck in this tough transition, as two real Rock Stars show this company that there is NO tough transition and continue to break records! Its your state of mind accepting failure!

You simply don't know the difference and you simply crossed the line!

The truth "Lies" somewhere in the middle.

AUTHOR: Hawaii H-D - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 16, 2010

Objectively reading the complaint, and taking into consideration that the original report is followed up with "I do not want any bad blood" and "I wish them well", one can only infer that the complainant suddenly realized his ownership in the problem.

1. They: Start-Up Harley-Davidson Dealership in the territory of a failed dealer.

2. They: Successful company with long standing business interests in Hawaii.

3. You: Unable to see the failure on your own part.

4. You: Very much under qualified for the task in front of you.

Having watched this from and unbiased and non-participant level, I can honestly say that the complainant was a baby deer, caught in the headlights of an oncoming train. Never asking for help, just waiting to be hit by the force of a locomotive.

When we as business owners begin a very costly and time intensive program such as taking on a brand image with so many dynamics (re: Harley-Davidson), we must have a 100% commitment from our employees. Our managers MUST rise to the challenge and get their arms wrapped around the business as if it were their own investment.

This is NOT negotiable.

The complainant never gave himself a chance.

1. Going to the gym in the morning and not being at the dealership until 9:30-10:00 (with all new employees that were less knowledgeable than himself, left standing on the sidewalk, waiting to get into the building, until he, the MANAGER shows up).

2. The complainant was flown around Hawaii like a Rock-Star, treated with respect and professionalism, trained at other Harley-Davidson Dealerships, put up in top of the line accommodations, and given the keys to a FANTASTIC opportunity.

3. The complainant was never one day organized, did not retain one bit of what he was taught, and failed to take on this project as something he could achieve. His lack of motivation and enthusiasm was similar to that of one who needs medication to get out of bed in the morning (unless it was to visit the hair salon or the tanning bed).

In closing, had this individual begun working for me and displayed this behavior, I would be asking him for a refund on all the costs associated in bringing him to Paradise!

I realize that we are all human, and one side of the story doesn't make it right or wrong. I don't want any bad blood between any of them. I wish them all the best in their future.
