I applied online for many jobs and Alpha Capital LLC reached out to me via email for a job interview. I called them and asked a few preliminary questions in preparation for the interview, such as;

1. what is the company website? Is the company private or public?

2. where is the job site located? what is the dress code? work environment?

The person on the phone did not answer any of the aforementioned general questions, she stated "i am not authorized to disclose that information".

I went to the interview on January 2020 with my resume, references sheet, and dressed in the same way that I dress for work as an accountant in dark denim jeans and a polo shirt with collar which is considered business casual.

Mind you I have a bachelor's degree and fluent in three languages, native to the area, have a car and live nearby. I overheard the person in front of me in queue interview because the walls do not have ample insulation.

His interview was a bit elusive they did not give him concrete details regarding pay or work environment, they said it was commission based, and that they would provide training. when it was my turn for a job interview the lady had said "you are not dressed professionally so i can't interview".

I put my folder back into my bag and politely tell her that i called previously to ask what the dress code policy was and other general questions and the receptionist did not answer my questions. This employer expects you to comply with expectations without even clearly defining them. I told her "i agree with you this job is not a good fit for me, as I do not work for an employer that is elusive".

Do not recommend this employer, until they have improved their HR systems and developed clear communication regarding the expectations, protocols to adhere before and after employment is offered.

I wouldn't hire you either

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, February 23, 2020

I wouldn't hire you either...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you are a millennial with the typical "all about me" attitude. As with the comments you made it is unlikely you have been in the "professional" workforce for more than a few years..if that.

The person on the phone did not answer any of the aforementioned general questions, she stated "i am not authorized to disclose that information".

- Yea because you called the RECEPTIONIST.

I went to the interview on January 2020 with my resume, references sheet, and dressed in the same way that I dress for work as an accountant in dark denim jeans and a polo shirt with collar which is considered business casual.

- This isn't "work". This is an interview you are trying to impress them by putting your best foot forward. It doesn't matter if the dress code of the company is T-Shirts, Shorts and Sandals. For the interview unless the job description includes "Do you want fries with that", you better show up in "Professional Business" attire.

I do many "Professional" interviews and if I had someone show up as you did I would likely do the same thing. Although, in the years and dozens of interviews I have conducted I have never had anyone show up in Jeans and a Polo Shirt. Actually I have never even had anyone ask me what they should wear to the Interview. Please go talk to any Job Coach or Counselor and ask them if Jeans are ever appropriate for an Interview.

Do not recommend this employer, until they have improved their HR systems and developed clear communication regarding the expectations, protocols to adhere before and after employment is offered.

- Of course you don't recommend this employer, because they didn't hire you. Another typical "millennial" attitude. A company should not have to give you their expectations for an Interview, and anything you are saying about their policies and communication after you get the job is irrelevant. Why...because they didn't' hire you.

So what did we learn here today boys and girls. When you go for an interview be sure you are wearing "Professional Business" attire.
