ALW Sourcing 15 yeard old debt on a credit card I don't remember having Baltimore Maryland

I received a letter in May from AWL Sourcing, LLC concerning a balance on an American Express card. I was a little surprised about the letter for a couple of reasons. First, it was addressed in a name I haven't used in about 15 years. Secondly, I don't remember having an American Express card.

Accidently, I misplaced the letter and didn't think anything else about it until I received a phone call from them today. Being a little skeptical I did a web search on the company and found this web site.

I am not very financial savvy, and don't know or understand the laws governing credit reports and the legal details they contain. However, after reading some reports on this company, I have learned this is not my first encounter with them. They have also contacted me about an older credit card account through a different company name (NCO Financial Systems INC and National Action Financal Services, Inc).

I did think it was strange that I would be contacted about these accounts since neither show up on a credit report I received about 2 years ago.

In addition with the letters I received, there was a letter addressed to "Account Holder" that listed almost 30 different affiliated companies.

I am unsure as to what I should do or where I should go to get help in this matter. My credit score is low because of school loans and past due medical bills. However, I am doing what I can to take care of the situation and improve my report and don't want some bogus company to hinder my progress.
