This guy Daniel Ward is the epitomy of a con-artist. His first contact is a great glossy flyer that arrives in your mailbox claiming :-
"We Are A Full Remodel Company With Over 25 Yr. Experience In The Swimming Pool Industry". GOT CRACKS ? We are a crack repair specialist with a 10 yr warranty on all crack repairs".
This was just what I was looking for. A company who could repair a 20' long crack that spidered across the bottom of my pool. Daniel Ward provided his free estimate and we agreed a price of $5400. They had a "very special process" that they used to repair cracks. They would empty and dry the pool, then fibreglass the cracks, before applying a "very special" epoxy paint over the entire surface of the pool. "No need to replaster it. The paint is the secret.
He asked for and received $2500 upfront.
Like the other complainants mentioned, his 'crew' appeared to be 1 scrufy, tatooed character named John, who seemed to smoke more than he worked, and very occasionally a dimwit teenager who was semi-competent with a brush, bucket and shovel.
The entire operation took 3 weeks and for at least one of those weeks, no-one showed up. Finally after calling for days, Daniel showed up alone, with a face like thunder. The weather forecast for that day was rain in the mid-afternoon. He worked like a madman, painting on the "Magic Paint", before the weather broke. I happened to mention that his 'wokmate' had mentioned that they always applied 3 coats of the paint (5 gallons) each time and that it cost them $500 for each 5 gallon bucket. Daniels response was "Rubbish! we only apply 1 coat, and this is it!".
Once finished, he asked for the balance of his monies, and I in return asked for a copy of his warranty, a bolier plate, non-specific photcopy that had zero reference to his company.
Now, 6 months later, the paint is flaking, the cracks have reopened and the pool leaks again.

LESSON - Get a copy of their Driving License.
LESSON - Take the time and Check around first. I found this complaint, and others that could have saved me $5400 !
LESSON - Call the Police. File in the SMALL CLAIMS COURT.
