Amazon LocalDeals sends out emails every day of "discounts" from advertising clients. I responded to a $200 discount coupon offer that Amazon charged $50.00 for. Most of the time, the coupons are valid and I have bought coupons for other items in the past that worked just fine. I bought the $50.00 coupon thinking the coupon experience would be the same. When I was cheated by the client company. Amazon has failed to communicate with me after several requests. I believe I am entitled to a refund of the $50 paid for the coupon. The coupon was for a Sterling Optical Company located at 3400 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY (585) 248-0086, a heretofor seemingly reputable business. When I presented my coupon, I was told it was applicable for any of their sales prices. OK I also couldn't use the optical prescription I already paid for from another company. OK. (Their cost was 50% higher for the same prescription.) They eventually charged $556.00 for the eye glasses. All I could afford was a $75 set of frames, so there was no exorbitance in my choice there. I had ordinary continuous line bifocal lenses - no shading, etc. After the so-called coupon discount, the cost of the cheapest possible solution was $356.00, although I had to pay $50 for the coupon, so my total cost was really $406.00  After I got my glasses, I went to several other optical stores, which I should have and found as a walk-in off the street customer with no special deals, comparable glasses only would have cost bettween $218.00 to $268.00 and I didn't have to pay $50 for a coupon. I should have just thrown the $50 coupon away. I would have saved money. My complaint is currently against Amazon for failing to make any attempt at replying to me in response to my complaint. They'll probably claim that there wasn't any complaint, ignorance is the usual ploy to suggest that they are responsive. My advice is to avoid Amazon coupons. While they mostly seem to work, Amazon offers you no protection from the wolves that pay for their services. As Sterling is a widespread company as well. I would beware of their predatory practices.
