In mid July, I was contacted by a high-pressure salesman from ADHI who was canvassing my entire neighborhood, which he showed me was a 20-block radius of older homes. Although I knew my roof was older and I was planning in my budget to get it replaced, I was not in the market to have roofing replaced this year.   Before I signed contract with ADHI, I decided to check on their reputation and found a whole host of complaints (poor workmanship, wrong materials, unauthorized construction, inflated billing), which made me extremely wary of doing business with ADHI.  However, I saw that several of my neighbors had their roofing replaced and asked them what their experience had been. After additional conversations with the ADHI salesmen, and finding I did have storm damage, I signed contract with ADHI for only the roofing to be replaced on my house and garage. The roofing was installed in late August, and I immediately provided the initial ACV check from my insurance company to ADHI.  I was ready to submit a testimonial to my local office for completing the work correctly and on time, in order to help them turn around their reputation, but then I received the final invoice.  I was dismayed that an entirely different problem occurred.  

In the beginning of September, the final invoice I received from ADHI included invalid charges. ADHI does NOT itemize the final bill to clearly show these separate costs:  material cost and sales tax, total labor cost, permit fee, haul and dump fee, satellite dish removal and disposal. This led me to believe they were "padding" the final bill with expenses I should not have been charged.  ADHI was charging me Overhead and Profit (O&P) for several contracting trades (roofing, siding and soffit/fascia), when only ONE contracting trade was performed at my property. My insurance company does not authorize payment of (O&P) when only ONE trade is performed on a property.  The insurance standard is when two or more trades are performed on a property, then the contractor is due the O&P. In addition to this, ADHI does not employ their own contractors to perform the work. They subcontract out the work and there is NO general contractor/foreman on site to oversee the work.

I attempted to resolve this issue directly with ADHI customer service department. One representative argued with me stating that I didn't know what construction trade was and that they were due the full amount to pay for the clean-up/haul away, permit fee and etc.  I stated that these costs were much smaller fees compared to the fees they were charging for O&P.  However, she was unwilling to adjust my invoice and would elevate my dispute to her supervisor.  Meanwhile, every couple of days, I have been contacted by ADHI - pressuring me to submit payment for the total amount due.  Each time, I state that my insurance does not authorize payment of O&P for a one-trade installation job, and that I needed an adjustment on my final invoice, which they refuse to do. 

I have submitted this complaint to the Better Business Bureau for resolution since the customer service team at ADHI is unwilling to review and adjust my final invoice for accuracy.
