American Express Publishing Company American Express Deceptive Advertising - Unwanted Charges to Credit Card , Internet

I noticed charges for $89.00 and $129.95 on my American Express credit card for "AEPC Member Services, T and L Golf Player Club" and "AEPC Member Services, SG Exec Services". When I called AmEx Customer Service, I was told that there was an automatic charge placed on my card for these services, since I did not decline them.

I would have had to respond to the "JUNK MAIL" letter, and decline the services, in order to not be billed. It is my practice to simply throw away, before reading, any mail that looks like junk mail. The fact that you have to respond to a communication to stop a charge like this in unconscionable...I could have easily overlooked it. I suspect a vast majority of AE credit card customers do just that.

I always thought American Express was a more professional organization, but no more. AMERICAN EXPRESS, you should be ashamed for allowing deceptive advertising to be included in the credit card statement mailing.

I was told that the charge would be removed by the next billing cycle, but it leaves a very negative image about American Express in my mind.  The little money they tried to deceptively extracted from me is definetly not worth the negative image I now have of them.
