Company owner Mitchell R. Landau claims to offer a real career opportunity to people interested in being consultants who teach people how to stay safe and protect themselves in the event of a fire. Mitchell requests potential consultants to pay $90.00 non-refundable dollars on first day of interview. After spending approximately four hours on the interview day and listening to babbling about potential money to be earned, potential consultants are told to purchase a tape recorder and return with 397.50 due on the first night of training (This is not refundable). On the first night of training Mitchell offered to five a cash refund of the initial 90.00 (although paperwork was signed during the inetrview indicating that this money was non-refundable), then he proceeded to babble for hours about how he knows many celebraties including Eddie Murphy, Wayne Dwyer, and others. After 2.5 hours of listenening to his personal beliefs, the company rules like do not question the program ... just go along with it and do not question Mr. Landau or any of his assistance "coaches" and nothing to do with how to become a certified fire consultant - - which is what the training was suppose to be for - - I discovered that this was not an opportunity ... it was non-sense... a money pit to take the money of innocent people seeking for a "good" employement opportunity. I decided to quietly leave the classroom and go to speak with his assistant where I proceeded to request for the refund that was referenced earlier in the class. Mr. Landau's assistant Jason told me that I would not get my refund back. I told him that that was contrary to what was said earlier and I told him that I was going to personnaly ask Mr. Landau. Jason stepped into Mr. Landau's class and expresed my concern. Mr. Landau stepped out of the class and pointed in my face and told me to leave his building and that for interupting his class, I would not get my refund.

This goes back much further

AUTHOR: older_wiser - ()

POSTED: Monday, January 05, 2015

This story goes back to Mitch's brother Greg Landau who had the company American Fire & Safety (AFS).  The beginnings of the Landau Brother's fire equipment sales days started when Greg was doing time for theft by deception. (I believe Greg actually started out selling Cutco Knives...)

I don't know what their product lines changed to but back then, Greg was selling Halon extinguishers and gallons of a flame retardant (that was water soluble and didn’t last...) Their drones were programmed to answer the phone saying “It’s a great day at American Fire $ Safety

They would run ads for “Fire Safety Inspector”, would do the same catchy demo on a room full of new-hires who’d be buying a starter kit before they even realized it was a sales job… some of the best bait and switch psychology!

Greg started another company based in Las Vegas called American International Services. (Don't know what he is up to now)

Moving and changing company names has been a pattern.

Regardless of the name or which brother was running the business, it has always been a multi-level scenario where money was made selling starter kits  (where most of their money is made) to new-hires (who didn’t know they’d be sales people), burning through the new-hire’s warm market (family, friends) and then moving on to the next guy.

Every once in a while someone would last a little longer and would usually get tied up in some sort of promissory agreement to be on the hook for the cost of a “franchise”.  They would then start the same cycle over again in their own location….

Mitch "Lucifer" Landau

AUTHOR: no nonsense - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, April 03, 2010

I was once taken in by good old Mitch Landau.  He is a very clever liar and will burn in hell for always using God's name to lure innocent victims into his SCAM!  He is a charming snake until you oppose him.  Then he is a vicious mouthed BULLY.  Any comments on this page that support Mitch are obviously written by HIM.  Oh yes, and ANYONE who is reading this page....please notice the L-E-N-G-T-H-Y letter supposedly written by "Chris".  Well dear readers, Chris was his "live-in" pawn who did his bidding.  NOT an official employee.  Get the picture?  And Chris could not possibly have written that.  Once again, it was written my Mitch.  If anyone hears of a venture, I pray the police are notified and they plant someone in his "web of lies" to expose him and keep him from hurting anyone else!

And Mitch....God Himself WILL get you for using His Name in Vain!

A legitimate scam

AUTHOR: Blackhawkmike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 26, 2009

I'm afraid there are a number of "less-than-honest" aspects of this so-called company.

Let's take the ads for employment for starters. In the most recent ads, it describes the position as a "fire safety consultant" starting at "$28.14" an hour, when in fact, it's nothing even close to a legitimate fire inspection job, and the pay is not by an hour, it's per house. So already the ad itself is totally misleading. You get to the supposed job interview, and you find that you're not really inspecting houses, you're trying to sell them products. It's nothing more than door to door sales with a twist. They bait you with one thing, and then switch. Hence the name "bait and switch." These are certainly NOT attributes of an honest company.

At the pitch for this job, the person doing the pitching lied a number of times. He claimed that AHFS was a BBB (Better Business Bureau) accredited business (which it also states on the AHFS website) with a rating of A, when in fact it has a rating of C and isn't even a BBB accredited business. The so-called training they offer is nowhere near recognized by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), which they again claim on the website to be affiliated with.

But perhaps most importantly, we were told at this pitch that we, as employees, would not have to provide leads, and that leads would be given to us by their "lead and refferal program." Herein lies the scam, because it is only after you've forked over your hard-earned cash to reserve a supposed training spot that you learn the truth, and the truth is that YOU are the lead and refferal program!

This is most important, as not only does it mean you have to do considerably more work, but contractually, they will only pay you once you reach 80 houses, and you must do so within 2 months, or they don't have to pay you a dime.

Everything about this company is dishonest, manipulative, and downright disgusting. It is a legitimate scam. How these people sleep at night is beyond me.

do your research, naomi

Further research on my part (not, obviously, on yours) led me to believe this company is legitimate. I researched this company both before the initial interview, and before the initial training. I'm not employed and doing fairly well. If you can't do the work they ask you to BEFORE you give them ANY money, then don't give them your money. It's THAT SIMPLE.

msg. to "crypt-o-night"

AUTHOR: Samantha - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Hey, Crypt-o-night!

You are obviously not too bright, or are deeply involved in this SCAM.
This b.s. company stinks of the same odor as another just like it, run by Mark Mingolo (alias Mark Anthony, Mark Meyers, etc.). He ran companies called, Advanced Safety Solutions, International Technology Services, Macquillage, Global Interventions, and at least 12 others all over the country. These companies are also on ripoff.

This company is selling fraudulent product, taking money from individuals looking to make an honest buck, and are unfortunately getting ripped off in the process.

I believe Naomi in her description of Landau. The guy uses intimidation tactics to scare people into financial "submission" with promises of grandeur. I've heard a similar story from another person who found the ad Mitch ran in the newspaper.

I offer you a suggestion...find another job. You will need one.......

#2 Consumer Suggestion

To The Angry "Insider"

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 03, 2008

Well, I would just like to say that I went to the interview and the training sessions and I'll never see my ~400 bucks again. Chris, even if Naomi had put in the effort and time it takes, as you say, she still wouldn't have gotten anything out of it, and you know that very well. Mitch Landau brought me into his office and was telling me all this garbage about how he wanted ME to manage one of his offices in the city and blah blah blah.

I'm disgusted by the fact that any man can stand in front of me for hours and hours during interview and in training using God and the memory of a dead wife (is anything this man says true? who knows) so freely in his monologues trying to get my money. "I know Eddie Murphy. Blah blah blah. I know Boyz II Men. Martin Landau's my uncle (well, I don't know, maybe true but you can't believe anything people like this say). Blah blah blah. I own a yacht, a sports car, a club in Florida, a blah blah blah. Whatever, man."

Pursuing legal action, Chris? Gimme a break. Take that case to any court within reach of American civilization and you'll get laughed out of court. If I could sue for all of my hours Mitch R. Landau wasted, I would. You, your boss, and you company are a joke. Go home.

For Noemi in Willingboro

AUTHOR: Crypta-knight - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Obviously you haven't read ANY of your written materials. I will start by explaining who I am, my name is Chris and I have been with the company 6 months and will be opening my own location shortly. So evidently this opportunity is VERY real, if you would have put forth the effort and applied the dedication it requiredyou would have found that out. Coach offers to EVERYONE, not just 5 people, as your letter states regarding the cash refund of the $90. All 15 people in my training were offered the same thing, as I quote coach if you made a hasty decision. The wording is the same EVERY training Coach does and is offered to all, not a select few as your letter indicates. Also the babble' you speak of is information on the company and its owner. From my take on your letter, your memory isn't very accurate. You stated company rules' which those aren't even covered until the first day of trainingnot the interview as you state. The part that doesn't have nothing to do with how to become a certified fire consultant' is quite amusingyou may want to run that idea past the dozens of people we hire and train to NOT be fire safety consultants. As far as being nonsense, I must be reporting for this nonsense everydayto secure my own location to promote nonsense. Honestly if this were amoney trap' as you claim, why would we offer ANYTHING back. Under careful review of your materials, you'll see we are under NO obligation to do so. I will have you know, we not only offer a GREAT opportunity but also one to change your life around. As for Mr. Landau's assistant', J. has always been extremely professional and proper in his demeanor at all times. I am certain that if there WAS any issue, it is on your end. Things have been and always will be handled here very ethically. I have never witnessed any unethical behavior by anyone under this company, I assure you. Coach Landau responding in such a malicious manner I find hard to swallow. He, from what I observed and heard since my start, has been nothing but genuine and professional. Anything less would be unacceptable. We hold our standards very high and I personally am insulted by these insane allegations. Please be advised, we are pursuing this legally. So we would suggest withdrawing your ludicrous comments in a timely manner.

Yours,

Chris
