On April 13th 2009 I read an article posted on the Making Homes Affordable web site dated April 6th 2009, that American Home Mortgage Servicing Inc. were distributing FTC consumer alerts that provide consumers with tips for avoiding mortgage relief scams and direct them to free legitimate counseling services and provide all legal modification documentation on their website to further help their customers.

The article was correct, on American Home Mortgage Servicing Inc. website they had a downloadable file for a Financial Analysis Loss Mitigation Workout sheet along with all instructions on what paperwork was necessary to file for modification. I immediately began to fill out all paperwork necessary and on April 16th 2009 with the instructions provided on the website mailed the information out. On May 18th, I decided to call the company due to not hearing from them on the status of my Modification. After several attempts with entering all information on the automated phone service to no avail, I decided to call once more without pressing any buttons on my phone as if I had a rotary phone. Low and behold I received an actual person...I started to explain my situation to the customer service rep. and asked for the status, mind you my tone was very pleasant as I am in need of help and figured they would help a nicer person rather than an angry one....well it did not work, the gentleman ended up hanging up on me. Now upset I called back again using the same method previously, not entering any info like I had a rotary phone, again a gentleman came on the phone, I mentioned what had happened and maybe I was accidently disconnected, silly me because once again they hung up on me. Not wanting to go through the hang up process again I decided to log onto my account online that very same day May 18th 2009 at 10:44 am and send them a secure message via their website in regards to the status of my Loan Modification.

It took until June 8th for them to respond back to me via email for my request stating they were looking into my request and get back to me asap. Well, June 11th 2009 I received an automated phone call from the company stating that they received my information and would get back to me in 120 days with a decision. On June 27th, 2009 I called again to let them know that I would possibly be late with my mortgage payment and wanted to let them know in advance since this would be my first and only time being late ever, as well as again to check the status of the Loan Modification....At that time they had the mordacity to tell me that they had no information from me for a loan modification and that I would need to send all the information out again and wait another 60-90 days for the status. On top of that they stated that I would need to pay a 500-dollar fee for the service of the Loan Modification. Mind you I am struggling to pay the mortgage at an 8.8 percent interest rate in which my loan is more than my house is worth at the current time. Now I am frustrated but know that I need their help so once again I submit all information. They also asked me to call them back at the time I would be sending payment.

Well I did exactly what they said. I called them on July 8th stating that payment had been sent via online banking as I have always done in the past with never ever being late and with this payment on time as well and they stated to me that they would not accept payment any longer via online banking, they stated that they would need for me to supply them with a checking account number over the phone with a routing number! Is this company for real???? I am at this time very weary of this company due to online reach that I have conducted with the Better Business Bureau that rated this company an F with having 384 filed complaints to date as well as contacting a HUD approved counselor with them noting many complaints about this company as well. I decided that it was in my best interest to supply them with all my information so that they may handle all future dealings with this company. This company in my eyes is looking to see me fail as well as many other homeowners'.

I have done everything requested by them, repeatedly, to be let down time and time again, and to be treated very poorly by there representatives. The new owner Wilbur L. Ross of this company, a Steel Tycoon should of stayed solely in the steel business unless he was referring to steel as steal i.e. stealing the rights of his customers. If there is anyone out there that can further help me out in this situation or would like to comment to what I have posted please do so as I will be doing intense research on this company over the next couple of days. I would also like to note that each and every time I would call I would ask for the rep to spell out their name for me due to a lot of the agents having an accent with having a hard time understanding, not one of them would provide a full name other than initials. Is this Legal??? Is any of this Legal?
