American Legal Services? Really?!! A money pak card!! Internet

so i get to work today, and there is a note for me. i see that the call was for 6:25 am... really? first red flag for me already, no real businesses call the customer that early..

i see it says from American Legal Services, a gentleman named Samuel something or another. so in my head i'm like "maybe i did something and should call"....

well i did and first a lady answered, "something and such lawfirm." i told her i need to talk to someone who called this morning.. she pretended to transfer me by pushing buttons on the phone and all the while, i still here alll the backgroung noise...

well then a guy answers, " this is.. somebody Walker. what can i do for you?"

i tell him they called me.

he states i was being sued and charges were being filed. " check fraud, theft, and falsifying documents..."

i said "well if i am being sued, where is my paperwork? and also, shouldnt i have an attorney?"

he hung up on me.

i told my co-workers and they laughed and said call back and see if you could get more info.

i called later and said what can i do to resolve this issue?  he stated nothing it was too late for that and that his job was just to inform me that this was happening, then his other line rang and he stated that it was the courthouse and to hold...

right.

well i hung up and ended my break and went to work... he immediatly called back.. he said it was super important to speak with him in the next 10-15 mins or the courts would withdraw all the exceptions.

i called back two hours later. he then told me there was nothing he could do. i said please. he said if i could get it done in the next half hour, he might be able to stop the paperwork from processing.. but it was ABSOLUTELY CRUCILE that i did it in the next half hour.

i said okay what do i do.

 he read all this "blah blah legal stuff"

then he told me the only legal payment that would be accepted would be what is called a "money pak" and that it was a easy way to ensure safe payment and take care of this and the court cost.

he asked did i know exActly how much i owed, i said no..

he said "$418.71" and that included fees and taxes.

he then told me i needed to go to a superstore..

i said what's that

he responded a walmart, walgreens, rite aid........

i was "oh yeah!! there is a walgreens down the street."

he then was trying to instruct me to get a money pak and told me when i get there to call him and he would give me furthur instruction and then i could give him the autorization code and he could change the status of the court order...

that was the end of it... i told my co-workers to not take the call anymore...

long story short...

its a scam.. a stupid one at tha

718-400-0344 is one of the many main numbers they have and they call themselves everything from american legal services, to legal law firm, to american law, to lawyers united..

just DO NOT GIVE THEM A PENNY, OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION THEY DONT HAVE ALREADY, AND NEVER CONFIRM OR DENY INFORMATION... PLAY STUPID!!!

and a word to the wise, if you are in legal trouble, they have to give formal legal papers
