I was contacted in Nov 2008 about a great deal on Mags. Pay 29.00 a month for 1 year, get 8 mags a month for 5 years.I agreed but started getting alot of money deducted from my bank account.

I tried to contact them, but there was no way to do so. I would receive calls telling me about renewals and I would ask for a phone number to call to find out what all this money taken from my account was for and to cancel. I was told over and over again I could not cancel and I agreed to to all of it.I know I did not. They would not give me a phone number or address to contact anyone. I finally had to close my account.

I now get calls from Receivable Resources telling me they will settle for $300.00 instead of $747.00
I tried telling her I did not agree with American Marketing to pay 747.00 for mags for 5 years. That's over $100.00 a month on Mags! And Mags I did not want, they went into the trash. The Collection company keeps calling and I can't stop the calls. I asked her to send me a copy of anything that states the contract, money owed etc, but refused to do so. She finally gave me a phone number that when called and answered by a recording that says press number for customer service etc when you hit any of the extensions it says "hang up and try your call again".

Help I need these calls to stop. She calls my home even at 9:00 pm and my cell many times a day. I was finally able to get their address on a Complaint at this site. I am going to try to send them a letter, but I don't think it will do a thing.

Here's What I Did

AUTHOR: Leann - (U.S.A.)

Hi Ann,

I honestly know what you are going thru because I was a victim of this company as well.  Another tip-off they are scammers: Looks like they were charging us different prices.  I was allowed 7 mags a month (didn't even get that many!) at $39.99 which went up $10 within the year.

I lost my job and had no income so what I did (you can do this anyways) is close your bank account, file a report with the BBB and get your phone numbers switched.  I know it sounds like a hassle, but it's worth it!  The last bill I received from them was in April of this year..nothing since I did all that.  Not any form of contact from them.  Although they wouldn't let me cancel, they can't exactly tell that to someone with no income.  What do they want me to pay them in?  Rocks?

This company is such a scam it's ridiculous..which also proves why they haven't done anything about it since.

Good luck to you!
