I began working for American Senior Medical in mid-June of 2009. The company works with seniors who have Diabetes, mobility issues, Arthritis, and respiratory problems. They help provide Durable Medical Equipment (DME) for the senior which is paid for through Medicare. I believed that this would be a great way to help people as well as make a good living for my family.

I was told the following before signing up and soon began questioning how valid those statements were: I admit that I have no way to prove some of the statements that were made. However, I do know through my own experience that I was misled or lied to about several things.

1: "Our "average" advisor earns $1700 weekly." I never came close to this due to several issues that will be listed.
2: "You will get 6 qualified leads every day". I did in fact recieve 6 leads a day and the company actually began giving me up to 8 leads each day when I asked for them. However, these leads were absolutely not "qualified" leads in the definition one would think. I was knocking on doors of people who had passed away or those who told me that they did not have any health related issues whatsoever.
3: "You will receive payment in "about" two weeks once the paperwork is processed". It has been six weeks since turning in my first application and I still have not received a penny. In ASMs defense, this is determined by whether or not the doctor signs certain forms and then submits them for approval. Obviously, not all applications will be accepted but I turned in over 25 applications and not a single one has earned me a commission.
4: "About 80%-90% of all applications are accepted". Really?, Then why have I not received a commission check?
5: "You can get paid through PayPal". Absolutely not true. This was not even set up yet when I began contacting the company about receiving payment.
6: "You are the ONLY advisor in the Kansas City, MO area". Again, absolutely not true. I met with several seniors who had already met with an advisor. I saw the paperwork! When I asked again about this issue I got the "Well, we may have contracted with an independent company who has advisors in the field". Wow! Pretty misleading if you ask me.

Other issues:
1: No website for American Senor Medical Group. They mention it under the parent company Executive Trade Associtates.
2: I was told that many of the employees in their "Call Center" had been let go and many of those who remained were on probation due to the amount of bad appointments that were being set up.
3: A huge amount of no-shows. Again, in ASMs defense they have no way of controlling this. But the vast number of my appointments were no shows and relates back to either a bad call center, or 75% of my appointments just deciding to no-show me all the time....sounds funny to me.
4: Constantly changing paperwork and the requirements for reporting. I feel that this nebulus of paperwork seriously hurt the way this company does business. I admit that at first I did not fill out some of my applications correctly. However, once I became familiar with the system all of my applications were filled out correctly.....still no money though.
5: Change in suppliers a couple times.
6: Outdated sales material due to the changes in suppliers.

Overall I feel that this company is still too new to be a reliable source of income for anybody who is working under a 1099 as an independent sales rep. They have too many changes that they are working on and kinks to work out.

I just want to put food on the table for my family and my 6 weeks in the field did not produce a single penny to date. I am a business professional with many years of sales experience and success in closing the deal. However, with the companies current issues I DO NOT believe that their average rep is making $1700/weekly.

This is as fair and accurate report as I can give. I have lied about nothing and have not "twisted" any details. I just want paid and I want people to know some of the issues that I have experienced.

American Senior Medical Group

I personally have no "dog" in this race but I have sold DME products before and the average pay period is as early as 2 weeks, but it normally takes 8 weeks if it has to be approved by medicare. Again I have never worked for Senior Medical Group.
