We went to them with a transmission problem, they told us our torque valve was out, but that a master overhaul of the transmission would be required to fix the problem. I now know this was not true, they could have replaced just that part.

They called and told me the cost, I told them we would be in on Friday with half the money and that's when they would start the work. They also said we would qualify for financing, don't worry about coming into do the paper work right now. The next day (tuesday) they called and said my car was ready to be picked up! We never signed a work order permitting them to start the work, much less, now we have to use their services because they did the work on my car.

The kicker, we did NOT qualify for their "inhouse" financing which means we had to come up with almost 3,000 dollars to get our completely overhauled car back. They lied about when and how they were going to fix it, and lied about the financing, to force us into either not being able to afford the repairs and they get to keep our car, or find a miracelous way to come up with the money.

They also lied about the warranty. The entire time, they said it is a twelve month warranty, I finally get paper work to sign, when I pick up my car, and it is a twelve month, or 12,000 mile warranty, whichever comes first. They couldn't even be honest about something as simple as a warranty!! Come on people, we deserve a better mechaic than this company.

I would never never recomend this company to anyone, and they will screw you over too, so proceed with caution!

I am a partner at an independent American Transmission shop in NC. We have no affiliation directly or indirectly with any other business named American Transmission in the world. If you are searching for information on a local American Transmission shop, please be sure to include a city and/or state in your search.

Thanks for your consideration.
