America's Moving Network, Classic International Fraud Extortion Deceptive Practices Dania Beach, New York City Florida, New York

Contracted a move through America's Moving Network. Estimate was $4778. They set me up with a "subsidiary" of a major moving company, Classic International. Deposit was paid with a credit card.

Pick up was done at a storage facility in North Carolina since we were out of state. Classic personnel arrived late and kept storage people 2-3 hours past their normal closing time. NO PAPERWORK was signed.

Received call 2 days later saying that shipment weight was 10,140 lbs and I owed $10,379 by wire transfer. Up to this time I had assumed payment could be made by credit card since there was no documentation contrary to that belief.

In shock, I called almost every day to Classic or America's Moving Network trying to work a solution. I finally ended up wiring first $4000. Then tried to do a Western Union deal but they advised me that it was not prudent to wire to a person and not the company.

Finally, they would not move my stuff unless I sent more money so I wired $4000 more and asked for a reweigh. Final result when items arrived in Honolulu, the weight was only 6,940 lbs and even after this Classic would not cancel C.O.D. charges and my family spent several nights on the floor with children crying about the toys they had not seen in a year.

I am currently still waiting for Classic to redo my invoice and charge me for the correct weight.

America's Moving Network listened but were no help in resolving problems. Also they claim a one month free storage. This starts when your goods were picked up. So my goods were picked up 2/20/02 and not delivered until 4/29/02.

What a fiasco.
