I only brought my car 2004 Town Country van to a*s 2 times before this inncident for a  O2 sensor and serptine belt replacement.I took my car to "a*s" Saturday 10/12/13 I noticed I have been burning thru gas more over the last 2 weeks and Friday 10/11/12 after I filled my gas tank I could smell a heavy gas smell around the back of vehicle and thru my vents and inside my car.Saturday morning it was overwhelming.I called Chrysler dealership but it is appt only on Saturday and a few other places opened could not get my car in because they were booked or did not work on anything to due with fuel issues.I called a*s they said to bring the car in so they can see what the issue is.

I drop if off at 11:30am it is now after 2pm I have not heard from them so I call to see what they have found. They do not smell the gas odor red flag #1.They proceeded to tell me they smell a perfume /alchohol smell and that was from my  airfreshner in air vents, some airfreshner bottle, perfume and a bottle of rain-x and goo be gone that has been in my car for 5years.

RED FLAG #1

Then said they found my spark plugs, wires are bad and shot fuel injectors need cleaning,I have a leak from my  exhaust manifold from the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets which might be the smell with the perfumes. The vehicle is running rich just below threshold for a check engine light.By the way the check engine light was not on when I took my car there. Inspected brakes which I will say there was a heavy vibration when having to brake quickly- said rear drum/shoe brakes are severely out of adjustment and front brake rotors are severely warped and brake pads are glazed and left pad shim has seperated from pad and is touching shoulder of rotor brake pads need replacing and rotors attempted to be machined but they felt due to the warpage and severe pulsation would need to be replaced. I'm not a mechanic and I'm not crazy but that is gasoline I smell.I asked them did you check the fuel lines, seals, gas tank and fuel pump to make sure that is not the problem. He said yes all that was fine and there is no indicator that is the problem.

As of 10/12/13 my car had 131,350 miles on it and I have had regular repairs and maintenance since I bought the car in 2005 it had 13,000 miles on it.

He said new spark plugs and wires-$481.00,Fuel Injector cleaning-$149.95,remove replace valve cover/intake gasket seals-$734.33.rear adjustment of brakes-$60, to replace rotors and front pads $350. so far estimated repairs if to fix all of the above-$1775+taxes-stay tuned for additional repair later!!!

RED FLAG #2- I should of picked up my car at this point and waited till Monday when Chrysler opened.

I then explained Chrysler just replaced plugs, wires, fuel induction service at 110,000 miles, 6mos ago Chrysler replace gasket seals, oil pan, water pump and a few other issues. I didn't have my paper work from Chrysler with me to compare

Also I had new rotors and front brake pads done maybe a year- year 1/2 ago at another place and believe they might be under warranty.I said I will check with them Monday as well.

I then told him I thought my plugs and wires might be under warranty at Chrysler and wanted to check he said the wires and plugs are not usually a warrantied  item.I stated I  want my  plugs and wires that you are removing to take to Chrysler to show them and see what they say.He said let me see if we can clean and reuse the wires I will call you back.

It is a Miracle they were shot and bad 5min ago- he called back few mins later the wires are fine and will just need to replace spark plugs which is $59.94 for plugs I was charged $371.03 to replace spark plugs only.

RED FLAG #3

I should of said STOP and  picked up my car and waited till Monday when Chrysler opened.

I said I can't afford this right now he said no problem we will finance the $1000 and I would have to pay $388 today

I agree to have spark plugs done at $59.94 but charged $371.03,replace valve cover/intake gasket seals-$734.33

-(because they are sure that is the gas smell)adjustment of the rear brakes-$60-grandtotal with tax=$1388.86

So 5pm I show up to pick my car up it wasn't ready till 7:45pm they close at 7pm.

I leave I didn't smell the gas smell right a way instead now my car has a skip which didn't have before they took it apart.

RED FLAG #4

Next morning Sunday 10/13/13 I leave my house Check Engine Light is on wasn't before I took my car there.I am pissed at this point and I can smell a faint smell of gas but did not drive that far so wasn't sure, I take it back to them at 11:30am.They take it back to see the code it says plug in 2nd cylinder is misfiring.I say ok you just put new plugs in.I say ok you just put new plugs in replace it then they say it might be a bad plug or could be the coil. I said replace the plug and call me when you get that done he said he would call It is now 2pm I call they say they are waiting on part I assume plug he said no we ordered a coil we put new plug in and it continues to misfire you need a new coil.I didn't authorize that.

He tells me the coil will be $219.00 he would give me a $35 coupon it would be $184 and save me diagnostic of $125 for the check engine light.

RED FLAG # 5

Really the light you caused-That's it DING DING the sirens are going off now I am done- I said no I am picking up my car I know if Chrysler replaced the coil it is under warranty and I will take it to them and I will call a*s back Monday to let you know if it is under warranty.

He said ok just so you know the plug will continue to misfire and your check engine light will stay on due to bad coil.

They bring my car around for me and it is reaking of gas again he can't say he didn't smell that but check engine light is off and it is not skipping I guess it was the bad plug they installed  not coil.

Monday 10/14/13 go to chrysler which they said coil is fine the wires I had installed by them only have 20,000 miles on them they are fine told me if light should happen to come on again bring car up and they will pull the code. By the way when I had brand new Chrysler plugs and wires with labor, parts and taxes it was $251 that included NEW Wires and Plugs and labor

After I leave there I got to place that did my front rotors and pads.I only have 20,000 miles on them they are under warranty. The only thing they agreed  with that a*s said is the left brake pad has is touching the rotor. They replaced the  front brake pads FREE of charge and my front rotors were not severely warped as a*s said they were able to machine surface them with plenty of rotor left for only $50. The gas smell was kicking in filled there whole shop.while on the lift they showed me exactly where that heavy GAS SMELL was coming from he shined a flash light and you could see smell and feel it was leaking.

After I explained a*s said it was my perfume, goo be gone, rain x etc... they laughed  at a*s diagnosis for gas smell. They reffered me to a reputable local mechanic to get this addressed.

He could not believe these so called ASE certified techs could not locate it was the fuel pump or could believe all of  these other repairs and charges they charged me.

Did not take that mechanic 5 min to locate the issue, it was my FUEL PUMP leaking and needed to be replaced. He ordered the part and had it repaired.

I needed a FUEL PUMP hint I asked about this- gas smell, The cost with parts, labor, taxes was $394 to repair fuel pump my original problem I came for!!!!

So from 10/12/13-10/15/13 I spent-$1388 at a*s if I would of let them do the other repairs would of been a extra-$659

Other repairs they wanted for brakes and coil and diagnostic for check engine light they caused

All I needed was fuel pump-$394,spark plugs-$60,front rotors surfaced-$50 rear brakes adjusted-$60,front brake pads-FREE

Expensive Lesson Learned I should of known but you expect a company with ASE certified techs to be honest and fix the problem you brought the vehicle in for to begin with.I just hope they didn't screw up my engine taking it apart.

I wish I had seen these reviews to begin with.

I WILL Never Take My Car to America's Service again!!!!!!!!!!I would not let them work on a  lawnmower
