I had a scale that was not working properly. I called ameripak to come out to diagnose the problem. tech showed up and was on the phone, said he didn't know what was wrong with it. He then told me that it could be a load cell, costing about $300 . I told him we only paid 500 for scale so that didn't seem right. He then told me it would be more than that because i was gonna pay him to sit in traffic on his way back to the shop. Whether it took him 10 min or 2 hours. I said don't take it(the scale) and told tech we would let him know later. I wrote down the times that the tech was at my business It was a total of 23 min 12 of those he was on the phone.
I recieved a bill for around $160.00! Yes $160 for 10 min of nothing. I called the company and spoke to a Bill i believe. Bill by the way was very nice and respectful to me ( the customer) Bill informed me that the tech should not have said that to me, he then apoligized and said he would look at scale if we wanted to bring it to him. So I said I would let him know.
Several days later I had a different scale certified by the city. I mentioned to them that the other one wasn't working correctly. The city employee went over pushed 2 buttons and then went to his truck and got weights. Scale worked fine. Ameripak tech did not touch the monitor, just chatted with me about me paying for him to sit in traffic.
I recieved no more invoices from ameripak ( ameripak and theiir collection acency informed me when I called they were sending bills. When i asked the address told them that was the a cabinet company up the street not my address .) I assumed that Bill had worked this out with his company. Let me just say that I do not expect anything for free, but when I got nothing I also don't expect to get charged for it.
6 months later got a call from a collecion agency for Ameripak. I informed her of the situation , she said she would check with the company. She called back and said that ameripak had no info that the ticket was to be taken care of. I called ameripak to try to speak to bill, rob bowling got on the phone, he was obnoxious. I had to put him on speaker because he was speaking so loudly. While me and another woman in my office listen to him tell me everything that his company has done and not done, I attempted to speak.
Rob then flipped out telling me that I don't need to interrupt him and that he wasn't finished. He continued for 20 min telling me he could not see the tech doing that (telling me that i was paying him to go sit in traffic) He then said that Bill had no authority to take care of my invoice only he did. And that My story was inconsistant. I relayed that I had never spoke to him in my life, he answered I know.?? He was definitly not someone I wanted to spend anymore of my life listening to. I have several companies in the area. I would never speak to my past current or future customers like this. I am sharing this not to get out of paying my bill
( I called company to pay it as soon as I got off the phone with Rob, made me feel sorry for him that he would get so worked up over $160.00 so he must really need it (: He will only get a fraction though since he turned it into collections instead of calling me ) But to show him that just because you act like a crazy person behind closed doors people can still hear you. So everyone hears it now. You were rude, unprofessional, condescending, and frankly acted like a bully. I will not do business with you company again.
I do have a new scale company now, they don't even yell at me on the phone. I guess thats why I purchased a $60,000 Truck scale from them. Hope it was worth it. On my phone, sorry for any typos!
