Pretty much the same story as all the others. I received a call from a company called Ameritrust Financial about being able to receive a credit card with a limit of $2,000.00. Unfortunately, I didn't do a good enough background check on them. There is a company called AmeriTrust Equity Services with a website at www.ameritrust.com. I mistook the two and based on what I saw it looked legitimate, so I went ahead with the offer.

The deal they were offering was a VISA credit card with a $2,000.00 line of credit. Considering I just finished going through a bankruptcy back in October, I could really use a credit card to rebuild my credit. I asked the lady I was talking to about how they received my information (name, number, pre-approval status, etc.). She mentioned that I was previously looked at by another credit card company, but was ultimately rejected, and that they received the information from this company. Supposedly they were the "second-chance" guys as it were.

Since I was unable to get an account with the other credit card company, they were able to give me a credit card. There was one condition, however. I must make a $200.00 security deposit, which would be refunded by four $50.00 vouchers which I could use only to help pay off my bill. I didn't like the idea of a $200.00 deposit, but I thought that since I was getting the money back (in a sense) that it was OK.

I feel so stupid for falling for this.

The website I listed was on the electronic check they used to debit my account.

Received Money Back from Bank

AUTHOR: R. mike lyons - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 04, 2008

Man, do I love my bank. I disputed the transaction, and received my money back. It took about 10-15 minutes worth of effort, and I got my money back in about 4 days from the time I made the dispute.
