I was referred to Andreas Beckman Boot Company by the concierge at the Mansion on Turtle Creek. I was informed by her that this was reputable boot makers that were true artist.

My wife and I went to the shop which was right around the corner from the hotel. Hector fitted me and my wife for some custom stingray boots. We picked out the skins and belts to go with them. We gave them a credit card for the entire amount which he said was a necessity. I thought (wrongly) that since they came recommended by the Mansion and their location in a high rent area that this wouldn't be a problem. Boy was I wrong. I didn't try to put a stop payment on the card until after about 11 weeks, which is the time I was told I would have the boots. The credit card company told me that since so much time had elapsed that there was nothing I could do.

The Beckmann Company did finally send me one pair of boot after I nagged them for a few weeks. However when they arrived they were not constructed how we agreed and they didn't even use the same skins that we agreed upon. I sent them back with the promise that I would have my entire order within 3 weeks. Three weeks later still nothing. After that I received various emails promising things but every deadline went by and still no boots. Then they stopped answering their phone and emails. I contacted Mary at the Mansion (the one who originally referred me) and she was of no help what so ever. (Kind of makes you wonder) The next time I went down to Dallas I stopped by the store to see if I could get my money back or boots and the store wasn't there. I have since heard that they are back up and running but have yet to find where.

The lesson I learned from this? Under no circumstances pay 100% for anything that you have to wait for any amount of time to recieve. The lag time only gives the scam artist time to let the transaction go through so you can't dispute it. Get a client list of satisfied customers. Don't take just one hotel employee's recommendation, check with multiple sources before you spend that type of money.

Stay away from these scumbags and if anyone comes in contact with them please relay the information on how I can find them.
