I read (with great amusement) Mr Anthony's (Oppenheim? Notice he doesn't use his last name)rebuttal to this latest ripoff report about Anglo American Investments after receiving yet another solicitation from these clowns.

Along with the same "We've read your business plan" (which was never submitted) emails, I actually called these guys a couple weeks back to have some fun. Spoke to both Al Dublin/Dobins/Dobbin and Anthony whatever-his-name-is, and they have a pretty slick con of some sort going but the poor guys can't even remember which name they're using between phone calls and emails. Apparently once they "make an offer", they need all sorts of money for "site visits" and a trip to the Bahamas to set up the bank account.

The law firm I use got a good laugh out of it, and so to be cordial I sent them some advice. Below is the thread. It begins after I asked them for contacts at ANY company that they funded ANYWHERE in the world in the last five years. Check out the info they wanted from me. LOL. Gotta give them credit though; they may not be smart but they don't give up.

Please don't ANYONE waste time or effort on these bumbling wanna-be con men. The word con "artist" definitely does not apply. ;)

Al and Anthony,

LOL. Thanks for the chuckles.

A couple words of advice.

Shanghai is the correct spelling, not Shang Hi
Answer emails with real answers not lame auto responseswhen you tell people that the reason that you're contacting them is because an analyst has reviewed their business plan, when no information remotely resembling a business plan was ever disclosedautomatic red flag.
Get a paid for 1st level email address not a free onesomething like @aaiinc.com would have been less suspicious. And guys, you don't have to have a website to have a legitimate email address, btw.
Keep your name straight. I'm guessing Dublin is Al's real last name and he just wasn't thinking straight when he sent me the email below. Too early in the morning Al? ;)
Also, when you cc someone at the bottom of an email like it's an actual letter, it would help to actually cc them on the email. LOL.
Get an efax account so your fax machine's area code isn't in Peoria.

And finally, remove my name, my company's name, my email address and phone number from your lists. Please.

Good luck phishing.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email.
I have been asked to contact you regarding providing reference material on Anglo American Investments for your review.

While normally it is Anglo American's policy to meet with an individual beforehand, I have been given authority to have information disseminated to you.
However, in order to release this information, Anglo American requires some information on you and your company:

A set of six references (personal and professional) for each of the partners, including name, address, phone number, email address and what type of reference
Copies of your business registration (federal, state and local)
Copies of any licenses, registrations or membership in organizations that are relevant to the project held by either the company or any of the partners
Copy of each partner's driver's license, passport or other state/federal identification

This is necessary as Anglo American Investments is a private organization and their partners need to know exactly who they are giving such information too.
Mr. Oppenheim awaits the information so that he can release their references and other information to you.
With regards,
Al Dublin
