I fell hook, line & sinker for this. A "little girl" comes to the door way after dark, and seems so frustrated that no one has listened to her full "sales pitch" (BS story) that I feel sorry for her & listen to the whole thing. I feel like she's had the door slammed in her face so many times, that I want to help. I even bring her INSIDE because I need a flat surface to fill out my "I'm an idiot, take my money" form and it was pretty cold outside. The light bulb went off when she rang the doorbell again to ask me what time it was. I asked her if she was alone in the dark & she said she was supposed to meet someone at the corner right then. hmmmm. I seriously thought about cancelling the check the next morning but then thought "what if it's valid and she doesn't get credit?", "what if she finds out I stopped payment and she and whoever's waiting at the corner come back & vandalize my house?" It's a shame but I should have slammed the door in her face like everybody else.
